90 Hatch build progress...lots of pictures

Well, I've had my 240 for about 9 months now and I'd say that is has come a long way from when I started off with it and there is only more to come within the next few months. I figured I'd share all the stages of my car with you guys, and just because I'm really bored. I got the car last November when I traded my 1994 Mitsubishi 3000gt sl for it. The 3000gt has 145k miles and couldn't pass inspection, but was a nice car. I traded for a 1990 240sx se hatch with a Redtop Sr20det with only 38k miles on it. It came with a huge GodSpeed FMIC, full Megan Racing Exhaust, Corbeau Racing seats and some other good stuff. :aw:

The paint was in terrible condition, the hood was all scratched up, the fenders were cracked. So, I thought it was time for a change. I was originally looking for coilovers for the car and then my friend stumbled upon a 91 240sx for $1200. It came with JIC magic coilovers, replica racing seats, full interior, and all the motor needed was a fuel pump. So, I figured I could use the interior for my car along with getting coilovers and then I would be able to sell the seats and get some money back. So I picked up this..

IMO it was a very good buy and now I had a new front bumper, hood and fenders. Along with new headlight assemblies that didn't sound like a train barreling at you when they opened up. Hated that. Here are my two 240's sitting in my driveway at the time.

So, I started taking apart my 240. I began by taking off the bumper, fenders and the hood. Not going to lie, the car looked pretty bad ass without all that stuff on it.

I started putting on the new headlight assemblies and the hood. The fenders and bumper from the parts car were a pain in the ass to get off. I stumbled upon a problem when I went to fit on the bumper and fenders. The bumper hit my fmic. :confused:

So, after getting the front end done (for now), I decided to sell the racing seats that came with the parts car for 550$. With this money, I bought some Kouki tail lights.

Well thanks for all the replies! Just to let some of you know, hint hint n1sm0r, the car is a lot further than those pictures that I posted early. I just didn't have time to get through all my progress before work. If you look back here in about 10-20 minutes then you will see that theres alot more that comes! :)

Well, the point of this thread is that it's a build up; my car from start to beginning. Yes, there are still come things I need and you will see that after I finish posting up what I have done, but here I can get opinions. Some people will like it, some people wont. Whatever.

Had to take off the bumper and fenders to hook up the directionals, the wire for these was all messed up, so I fixed that with the help of my parts car. Also cut the front bumper a bit.

boosted98gst - It feels great. I don't know why anyone would choose springs over coilovers. I drive on shitty New Hampshire roads too, and it isn't even that bad. Just avoid the big pot holes and you're good to go :)

Looks to be comin along. But you should try and get the hood/bumper/headlight to line up better. Of course I cant say much cuz mine is the same way. Except with the gap to the right, lol. If its anything like mine its a pain in the ass though.

Oh yeah, the gaps are definitely a pain in the ass. I ordered a kit for it, so I don't think that I am going to mess with the bumper at all. I'm also looking for some nice wheels for the car, so if anyone has any opinions or is selling any, let me know! thanks!

boosted98gst - I haven't been able to fix the starting problem. I was at NOPI this weekend and I was just letting it sit to see if things would dry out and it is still having the same problem. I'm going to take off the filter, and do everything else that people were saying. I'll keep the other thread updated as well. Oh, btw, the purple cleaning stuff worked out really good!

240 is back up and running! Woo! Stupid spark plugs, I had to buy some good ones. The ones that were in there before I bought again and they didn't work. So, I had to go back out and by more and bought good ones and it worked! Woo! Thanks guys!

Don't worry about the haters, you care about performance before looks, and thats fine with me... the car is just as fast in primer than it is in a nice paint job. Unless those Honda guys were right, then metallic paint and decals do add 50 horse?

Or I would do imperial jade mica from the 98 GS300. You can never go wrong with with black though like Basalt Black from the 2001 Audi S4. Ok i study colors too much i like painting alot I think I have actually painted more things in my life than anything else. I painted my whole entertainment center and it looks nice. Did it Porsche Seal Grey looks hot! Gimme a pm if you have any questions about paint. I got tons of colors that people don't normally go for.

Anyways, haven't updated in a while, but my body kit still hasn't come in. :ugh: I don't know what is going on there, but I'm getting really mad about it. Car was suppose to be painted last weekend, but the lack of a body kit is keeping me from doing so.

On another note, is anyone interested in trading their coilovers for some JIC magic coilovers? They're too stiff for me, and I'm getting annoyed with them on my roads. Let me know!:bigok:

Okay, so here is what's going on. I called the company that I ordered my body kit from and they said that they have been on backorder for a long time for that kit. I said screw it and I'm not going to do a body kit. I have something else in mind :rofl:. Anyways, the car is going into paint this friday. I'll make sure to get some pictures for everyone. Still undecided on a color, any suggestions?

Also, I'm going to need some nice shoes for it. So, if anyone knows of any good offset FN's or some nice MB weapons, LET ME KNOW! :bow:

Yeah, the blacktop should be going in over winter. So far I'm going to have a built head minus solid lifters, top mounted T3/T4 (no baller GT series yet!) and the intake setup I was going to trade you. I also have a 300ZX transmission and a MegaSquirt-II in the mix.

Okay, I got the car back today. It was painted a 1998 Nissan Slate Blue Met.. It was suppose to come out like a gunmetalish color with a blueish tint, but when I went to pick it up, I saw that it had a purpleish tint. I'm kind of disappointed, but it still looks sick. I'll post pictures tomorrow!
