well my brother and i were getting his S14 SR20 ready to drop in and we found something puzzling. we got the old oil filter off and went to screw the new one on, and it would not thread on. some how the threads on the oil filter housing got chewed up and it will no longer accept an oil filter. i have a spare S13 SR20 block laying around so i grabbed the oil filter housing off of it to see if they were the same. well, they are and they arent. the mounting holes are the same. the only difference is the angle of the oil pressure sending unit. i know all of the aftermarket oil blocks are the same for S13/S14/S15, so i just need to know if it would be safe to use the oem S13 oil filter housing on a S14 block. thanks.

You sure you have the correct oil filter? I know it sounds silly but I have seen it happen before.

well i was thinking that, but my brother bought a oem nissan oil filter for all SR20DET's from courtesyparts.com. it screws on fine to the S13 oil filter housing, but nothing will screw onto the s14 housing. so im sure the filter isnt the problem.

S13 uses B13 filter, S14 uses B14.
S13=15208-53J00
S14=15208-65F00
they all aren't the same, I seen this happen before and it does make a difference ironically.
pm me if you want the story about how I know. Its a bit lengthy

too true. i think im just gonna leave the s13 housing on there. the ONLY difference is the angle of the oil pressure sending unit. thanks again

Just make sure next time you look for a filter that you get one for a 91-93 Sentra SE-R now since your running an S13 fitting. I was in the same boat, i found out the hard way that there is a difference. S14 filter are bigger, thats why you can put them on 13s but you cant put 13 filters unto 14s.
