View Full Version : Quick (maybe retarded) Wiring/ECU question
Ok, i picked up another SR'd car, but the car runs retarded rich, its come down to thinking its wiring. The car has a redtop SR, with matching ECU and harness. I have a Blacktop in my other car which i pulled the harness and ECU out of. Is it possible to use the blacktop ECU and wiring harness on the redtop, or are there any differences that have currently flown past my head.
Thanks in advance.
Bump
It ran but the same, heres a quick overview of the problem
The car runs ultra rich, white vapor pouring out of the exhaust, very flammable from bad experimentation. When the car shuts off, it looks like someone put dry ice in the exhaust. We thought it may have been fuel rail such as a stuck injector, so we swapped that, then another redtop ECU, same issues, tried ignitor chip, CAS, Coolant temp sensor(new), coilpacks, MAF, and even swapped over the blacktop harness and ECU, same results. Were left almost clueless. We checked all the vacuum lines and everything, and its just left us puzzled. Any other reccomendations of things to check?

If a car is running rich it will put out black smoke, not white. White smoke usually means coolant is making it's way into the combustion chamber somehow. Also, check to see if you're getting fuel in the oil.

We got it running right, ours kinda turned out to be the ECU housing Grounding on the circuit board alond with an injector missing a grommit on top. Along with the wrong MAF being used, and a Blown Turbo.

ok...the plug of my ecu on say pins 38-39 and some surrounding show corrosion...last time i drained oil it was full of gas...casing on the ecu seems to be good...pulling the harness right now
