So long story short, I bought an S13 with a nearly complete SR20DET redtop swap. Supposedly it had the wrong water pump pulley from a KA or something - it was too good a deal to pass up...
So here are two pulleys in my garage. The smaller one on the left is the one that came with the car. It bolts up to the water pump, but it rubs on the pump mounting bolts, has only three ribs (the crank and alternator pulleys have 4), and is waaay the hell out of line for a belt (too close to the block).

So I got the genuine JDM pulley on the right today and figured I was home free - it totally doesn't bolt up with the water pump! :wtf:
So I looked up the small pulley part number on google (21051-77A10) - hmm, it appears to be a Sentra pulley?
So here is the water pump on the engine:

What's wrong with this picture?
From Courtesy Nissan's site, I think it is an SR20VE water pump!

Does this make any sense? Could an SR20VE pump mount to an SR20DET (it looks like it would except for the extra bolt hole)?
I have no idea why or how this happened - one of the eternal problems with buying someone else's project... maybe it is a mad tyte JDM water pump underdrive mod? :-/
Just wanted to bounce my theory off some random anonymous zilvia mofos before I invest in a JDM SR20DET water pump (or figure out how to fab a spacer to mount one of the pulleys).
