 Can someone please help me out.
I'm installing a sr20det into my convertible and ran into some problems...
My fuel pump is not kicking on, so I'm not getting any fuel. The car was running with the KA and ran fine. All I did was remove the KA and dropped in the SR. But for some odd reason I'm no longer getting any fuel. The car cranks but it just won't kick over cause of my fuel pump not kicking on... Can someone please help me out and tell me what to do. Thanks if you can help me out.... I need to get back on the road.

Frankly if you are stumped that easily you need to just take it to a shop that knows what they are doing.

First off, Is it the stock KA fuel pump? I dont think that would be enough to power an SR, and you will be running lean. Go find the fuel pump out of a 300zx TT, or buy an aftermarket one.
Turn your car on (not the engine, 1 click before that) leave it there for a few seconds, and turn it off. That should have pressurized your fuel lines. Now check to see if you have fuel pressure. If you do, its not the pump.
if you have pressure, make sure all your injector wiring is connected, from the ECU back.

a short i suspect. Get a multimeter and see if there is any power in the wires. If not, check the relay. Im not big on SR's, but general car knowledge im ok on. It sounds like you have a short somewhere if everything is hooked up right. And your sure its not the injectors?

start with basics. fuses and relays. check wiring. sometimes its that simple.

yeah i just got done checking over it and it seems to me that one of the connectors near the main fuse box is not lined up properly... meaning like the pins don't match up... they plug into each other but i guess its like different wiring, not to sure tho... cause that plug is coming off the harness from the tranny, starter, and altenator. so yeah....

sounds like electrical. check all connections and make sure you modified your harness correctly. check with a test light for continuity and once you hear the fuel pump coming on, make sure u have your fuel lines on the right way. good luck

Also is it possible that my fuses or maybe the wiring in the fuse box is bad. how can i check if its working correctly or not.

look if all else fails re wire your fuel to turn on with a relay to the switch......12v should work just fine.

do this first or you will kick yourself in the ass later when you realize the fuse was blown.

so how will i check if the fuse is blown or not. also wondering what the egr fuse is used for. mines use to buzz but stopped.

to check the fuse, pull it and inspect it if the wire is broken ithen its bad, if the wire goes all the way through then its good.
it used to buzz? as in like a short? electrical buzzing?
last time i heard buzzing coming from a fuse box was in a truck and it started catching on fire!

I thought you had a hatchback with S13 conversion?
all primer gray????

did you connect the brown wire harness that comes off the ECU Main plug if so, check and make sure you wired it correctly.
Find out if that plug is wired differntly from reg. coupes.

i think your talking about a different person. i got a convertible. how do i check if the bigger fuses are bad. the fuse im talking about is the big green ones. does anyone know what wires and/or fuses help turn on the fuel pump itself. i dont wanna switch out my whole harness and find out it was just a simple fix, know what im saying. thats really the only thing holding back my car from starting.

what do you mean that its wired differently from regular coupes. im pretty sure i plugged it in. the brown plug that youre talking about is the plug that placed right above the ECU right?? or is there another brown plug somewhere else.

Holy shit, i was expecting after reading everyone's reply in the forum to tell this guy that although the harness plugs do match up, the colors on the wires do match. (i'm referring to the plugs by the battery tray. when rewiring your SR harness to mate with the KA chassis harness, you have to use the KA plugs from the KA wiring harness, and solder them to the SR harness. this is such a common problem. if you read the wiring guides on either heavythrottle.com or frsport.com they will tell you. i'm quickly learning the zilvia culture but i'm still nice enough to refer you n00bs to the right place.
your fuel pump is not coming on because it is not even receiving power, and i can't believe you didn't get hammered for asking how to tell if a fuse is bad.
now if you DID search, this is what you would find on heavythrottle.com's website.
SR INSTALL FAQ:
"There are 2 plugs on the end of the KA harness and 3 plugs on the SR harness that run up behind the stock battery location. Although the plugs do initially snap together, the wires do not line up and you have to cut the plugs off and connect the wires using the table below. Cut the 2 main KA plugs off the KA harness and splice them onto the SR harness. "

ok the fuses were all good but the fuel pump still not getting any power. has this happened to anyone else. sorry for being such a noob but i know how to check the fuses, the fuses i was talking about is the big box looking ones.

when you rewired your SR harness to mate it to the chassis, did you rewire the plugs behind the battery? the brown and the grey one? you're supposed to cut off the plugs on the SR, and wire the KA plugs from the harness on to the SR harness by matching all of the colors.
at this point in time, it seems like you have not done this (or might have improperly done this)

are you talking about the main engine harness if so i did do that. well i actually cut off the 2 main plugs from the KA harness and solder it to the SR harness... So my question actually should be, is there a difference between the harness wiring from a 91 coupe and a 93 convertible? It might sound stupid but it was running fine. It was in my 91 coupe earlier the day that I installed it into the 93 convertible. Then when I dropped it into the convertible it just cranked and wouldn't turn over....
Thanks.

OKay I think I can answer your question. Take out your ecu from its mounting locations set it out on the floor board (still connected) turn your ignition on, a red light LED should come on the ECU. If it doesnt then your fucked and you fried your ECU, which is what happend to me. Let us know what happends

ok, in your initial posting it seemed like you didn't rewire this, and it is a common prob. i doubt the KA wiring harness is different in the aspect of the fuel pump wiring/color, but i'm not an expert with wiring (YET!) try running a wire directly from a 12v source to your fuel pump.
