i just needed to vent. with my motor blowing up, and school starting, things cant get any worse.
well yesterday i needed to get books for my classes--$504.75
needed a parking sticker for school--$65
needed to get a flat bed to pick up the car today--$125.00
monthly insurance bill--$200.00
engine builder trying to prove that it wasnt his fault and accusing me to have dirt in the motor--$$priceless$$
who knows how much the engine builder thinks he is going to get. when it was his fault.
he even says it could be from me boosting alot and having detonation. when i never experienced any detonation or have any signs of detonation
and he even came up with the idea of me not putting the right oil in there. SUUURRREEE!! whatevever.
i hate ppl that know they are at fault but dont want to admit it.
anyway.. sstupid topic...

Sucky.
But I'm actually surprised that the engine builder cares at all. It'd be different if you just took your stock Honda Accord grocery getter in for a 60k tune and they put a t-belt in it and that failed in 6 months and you told them to pay for the head work. However, in your case, you were running mad boost on a built motor. To me, that's nobody's fault. The engine just said "I'm tired" and something gave out.
I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, just trying to give you a little perspective. I think you're lucky to be getting anything from the guy...unless there was a warrantee that I know nothing about. That changed everything.
Good luck.
BTW, where do you go to school? I'm starting back up with my last year of grad school tomorrow. Yay. My job sucks right now so school is a welcome change.

yes the engine is under warranty
i go to Quinnipiac University (the famous polling University)
i never beat on the car. hardly ever use the boost. on streets on limit myself to 6psi. i used 27psi to test the motor. it is almost like talking one pass on the track. it shouldnt do that. not on the first pass

OK, then. Sounds like a solid case to me. I didn't remember the whole story. Now I really do feel your anger. I have stories like that too....mostly with the local Nissan $tealer$hip. It's all about seat belts and EGR systems....
I feel really lame, but I've never heard of your school. Are you there for law or something?
Just one question. Why would you "test" the motor like that? Seems to me it would be better to work up to the limit somewhat slowly, like feed it 2 more psi and see what the EGT and A/R does...then 2 more...then 2 more or whatever. Just seems like going straight to 27 psi is just asking for trouble. I wouldn't do that a second time if I were you....
Best of luck with getting it rebuilt. I'm sure you're missing the positive manifold pressure....and your car.

of course i tested it in 1 psi increments. just to see if there are any signs of detonation and running lean. everything was fine. i was going to the track that friday and thursday was my test session in my hometown.

Oh, I didn't know that. So at 26 psi everything was fine and 27 psi was not good? Hmmm.
Well, have fun being rich. Call me when you need a house or two built. Or just a garage for your car(s).

Good luck on your motor....
I can relate to you on the whole expenses, I'm stuck with having to pay for my tution. This is only because my dad never put a down payment and he left the country without telling me. So now I'm screwed I have to pay half of my $1734 tution on Friday (three days from now), $85 for the parking pass (also on Friday), $237 for insurance (mine and my dad)......so basically I going to be one broke ass student until mid October.
edit: All of this could have been a breeze if I knew about this two days before school started. Because I waste alot of money on goodies during the summer....

I feel your pain man. Two Sundays ago I fishtailed off the road and into a sign....$800. Then this past Sunday I got a fuckin DUI. Ive already had to come up with $1500 for lawyer fees, and my insurance is most definately gonna drop me. I go to VCU (Virginia Commonwealth) and just had to pay for all the bullshit too, books included. It hasnt been the best summer....

believe me i know exactly what you feel, i just started school to, and my engine just also blew at 60,000 miles, what bullshit. The bad thing is I bought the car for 13,000 just exactly one week before the engine blew, talk about a pain in the ass. But my car should be finished with a new engine with 34,000 miles on it in about one week. But sorry about your shit man. I fell for you.

You case depends on what you told your engine builder and what kind of parts you asked for. Over 20PSI in a street driven car is asking for trouble unless you went with the best of everthing. If you did not provide him with the correct info or go for the best parts, your on your own.. In most states RACING engines carry NO warranty at all.... Sorry for your loss.

Best of luck to you. I had a to move a few weeks ago because my roomy said he was paying the rent and wasn't. So all of my cash went to things like a stove, deposits etc...

just in case anyone flames this quote.... I second it, with the added satisfaction that no one else dies in the horrible flaming death (which is really the reason we wish the horrible flaming death in the first place: cause of death of innocent lives).
