That looks about fair price for a 97 if it isn't salvage.
I would find it's VIN number and get a history report on it.
You'll never know if it's a lemon or not.
Do you happen to know what model it is (basic coupe? SE?).
It's hard to actually determine the price of a car from just looks alone.
Why don't you try to find out more info on the car and post what you find in the forum.
The more detail you can describle about the car, the easier it is for others to price the value of the car.
If this of any help, you can also go to www.kbb.com (http://www.kbb.com) to get a ball park figure.
Good luck!

It doesn't sound like a bad deal. Although, I would go buy a 95-96 for almost $2,000-$3000 cheaper and just get the M/C front-end (if thats what you want it for), so I could have a little bit a cash left over. Sounds like a pain, but saving cash is saving cash.
This is what happend to me. I got a 95', but still have the 95' front-end, which I DONT MIND AT ALL anymore. It's really up to what you can afford and your future plans for the car.
