Ok, here we go. I was going to get a 240sx 1990, until I got a quote from my moms insurance company. (for the record I am 17) I gave all the info and the woman called me back. She said because the type of sports car it was I would have to pay 1000 dollars every 3 months......wtf. So I talked to a friend and he has a 1991 240sx and only pays 58 dollars a month....wtf....again . I also have a buddy with a 2001 Mustang who again pays less than me, 500 every 3 months . WTF is going on here ? I also tried progressive auto insurance and the quote came out to be 1800 every 6 months as a secondary driver with liabillity only. I was wondering what the price ranges on your insurances.

BTW: I have not had a ticket or crash before.

When I first got my liscence 3 years ago, I drove an 1984 Crown Vic. I paid 660 every six months with the good student discount. When I got the 240SX 2 months ago, my insurance went down $110 to 550. My record is still clean.

damm.... this is a sign for me to get into the insurance field and jack ur money.... OMG those quotes are rediculous!!!... who the hell will pay over 200 a month for a car that is worth only $3000... but then again theres that "what if" issue of being sued... so i guess it works out

mine is around $100 a month. my insurance company charges the same price for all cars over 10 years old if you want liability only.

Where does everybody live at??? When I moved to Nashville in June my insurance went up from $450 every 3 months to $560 every 3 months. That has quite a bit to do with insurance prices. Also a lot of the questions they have are based on safty. In a 1990 HB they don't don't have Air Bags and well from what I can tell if you get T-boned your car isn't going to with stand that much. (I havn't ever heard of any crash tests)

My dad had a 1993 nissan pickup back a long time ago and he got T-boned and he was put in the hosiptal for 15 days. Insurance had to pay for all of that and the surgery bills.

My point: in an older car like a 90 you are more likely to get hurt worse and put in the hospital; so the insurance will have to pay for all of the bills.

Basically, it's called: "You get fucked if you're under 25.

I used to have hideously high rates. I've had a clean record for 3 years. I'm 22 now, and I pay 331/ 6 months for the 81 shitbox Honda. (Liability only.)

Your ins. should drop a little at 21 or 22, and then a big drop at 25, provided you don't keep getting speeding tickets or other moving violations. Unfortunately, the 16-22 male crowd is statistically highest for accidents, which cause ins. companies to fork out money. They hate that.

Not only will age screw you, but the type of vehicle. A RWD 240sx is much higher risk (especially because of those who drift into curbs and want the ins. to fix it) than say a FWD 81 shitbox Honda.

ya $4000 a year is slightly on the high side. i thought my friend had it bad for paying $2400 a year after he got his license taken away. i hear so many people saying their insurance companies claim the 240sx is a sports car. i'm glad mine doesn't feel that way. i was paying $53 a month. when i got the blazer ($133/month 2002 with full coverage) the monthly rate on the 240SX dropped to $20 a month.

how can you get away with not claiming your 240SX as a sports car. The name itself makes people automatically think its a fast sports car.

My insurance company bases their car class ratings solely on HP, not factoring weight. I told them I have 155, they called it a "performance car" and I am paying $1300 a year for full coverage, 100/300, with uninsured mtorist cpverage. I am 17. I got lucky though. They rated my stepdad on my car for the collision and liability, and my liability on his ford ranger. She said as long as we have the same number of drivers as we do insured cars, and the 240 has full coverage, than I am covered in my car. That, and we had just renewed the insurance when I got in a small crash with my dads car. (first time in snow, and I understeered his dodge shdow at about 25, slid on the road and through a little dirt, and bent the bumper on a tree at about 10mph) So It still isn't being added to my insurance, and won'tbe for a while.

Anyway. I have kemper insurance. I am the fourth diver, fourth car, and I have god student discount, multicar discount, and driving school discount.

My bill from AAA Michigan is about $400 for six months of Liability... I got a quote for Full coverage Plus (you know, roadside assistance, towing, bail bonds and the works)
and that was only $1000 or so for a 1992 240sx LE
I'm 22 with no tickets or accidents (in this country anyway)

does anyone know if you get any kind of discount for being married? I never got any kind of break when I turned 25 (and I'll be 26 this time next month)... grrr. I need to resort out my insurance I think. I think I'm paying too much considering the pluses:
- I'm married now
- I'm almost 26
- I've never even been pulled over *knock on wood*

I can't remember exactly how much i'm paying off the top of my head, but i'm sure it should be less :/

If I remember correctly you get a big break on insurance after you get married. You should have gotten a really big break when you turned 25 too. I'd be asking about that if I were you.

I pay 50 bucks a month for both my 240sx and corolla. I go thru USAA. You have to be active duty at the time of enrollement. Its cool because you can keep it even after you get out of the military

Hehe, thats a good one.

Anyways. I'm supposed to pay $1700 full coverage for 6 months. What i'm paying is $300 for my dad's liability. I'm almost 19, driving for 3 years. No points. 97 240sx. I'm with geico. hope this helps.

They think when you are married, you have something to live for, so you won't drive recklessly. Even though most married men drive even more reckless to get away from the nagging.
