ok well i've heard lots of people saying it and doing it , but whats the benefit of removing the ps pump, and if any , what are disadvantages(besides not having power steering obviously)?

It would suck having to turn the steering wheel 100 times just to pull in my driveway.

imagine trying to do AutoX or driving in the snow and trying to correct all that spinning and crap, but I guess thats for them hardcore racers. But I have never heard of people removing it.

benefits of removing the PS:
-stronger forearms

disadvantages:
-when u hafta parallel park

also, iirc, for the '91-'93 S13's, to remove the PS, u hafta switch the rack & pinion to the non-PS version.

actually parallel parking is a bitch in non ps cars, but once you get up to speed and the wheels are rolling the effort is about the same as a PS car. for racing or hardcore drifting, no PS also allows for greater feel of what the front end of the car is doing. I have noticed on my 240 that sometimes the steering feels a bit numb- but I think I just need to change some of the tired rubber bushings on my tie rods and stuff.

advantage is the engine revs a little more freely. you get used to it after about a week, when it comes to the difference in turning. you have to start turning a second before you normally do when it comes to the sharper turns. you get a greater feel of the road when you're pushing the tires to the max.
by the way, if you have an 89-90, you can just take off the power steering belt to disable it. the SOHC has a seperate belt for the power steering. i've been power steeringless since april of 2001.

The best thing is when you're coming out of a turn and accelerating. There's a lot of force trying to center the wheel. You just basically let go and it returns to center.

This prevents the oversteer, correct, oversteer again, correct syndrome that happens while accelerating and turning on a rwd car.

Also it revs a bit more freely.
