How do you remove the automatic pilot bearing/converter?

I rented a pilot bearing remover(powerbuilt) but no use! It won't grab the back of the bearing/converter. (waste of $<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Anyone used a different brand remover with good success?

What are your suggestion on how to get this POS out!!!

Thanks guys.

I did a search on "pilot" and the only thing that returned were strut bars!

Need more info. &nbsp; To my knowledge, the torque converter just comes off after you loosen some bolts on the backside of it. &nbsp; You need to remove that torque converter. &nbsp; Are you scrapping the auto tranny, or are you just trying to get the pilot bushing out?

Pilot bushing removal tool is a slide hammer with hooks basically. &nbsp;I rented one from autozone and made it work.

BTW, I never had any luck with the grease push out method.

get some vice grips on the bushing and slowly hammer it out. worked perfectly, give it some time, and some WD-40 or Zex.
