Im planning on purchasing a Apexi N-1 but im unsure about the performance and sound of it compared to the Hks Hiper. Which exhaust do you guys think i should get?

welll, if you dont have or plan on getting an SR, id say the HKS because it comes in 60 or 65mmm piping, not just 80 like i believe the N1 does, ive heard the N1 is way loud, and if you want to hear the HKS, IM me @ fodive and ill send you a vid that i have of it...hope that helped

to be honest with you ive heard both 2.25 adn 2.5 were the ideal for NA cars, ie not much loss of low end power, but i dont think that there would be much of a diff between either low end or high end power between 2.25 or 2.5

Yea i remember that thread vaguely..... i believe 2.25 was the overall choice.... but as for that damn search.... yea it works fine and all.... it just angers me....

my bad for bringing this thread back? there are no other threads on this topic and i dont wanna make a whole new thread on the same thing

but what is the general answer to this question on which exhaust is liked more? and what the differences are?

2 different exhaust systems.. The HKS is good for an all-motor setup with it's smaller piping.. the N1 is good for most turbo applications....

Decide what you're doing with your car, then get the parts that fit your needs..

IIRC HKS Hiper hangs a bit low on the ground. I currently have HKS on my 180SX and that thing hangs way too low. I am thinking about purchasing the Apex N1.

HKS FTW!! i just got one on my s14 and i love it. you'll prlly have to get bushings though cuz it moves around if you dont get them.

If your not planning to turbo get HKS. The Hh-power is a great exhaust.

+1 for Nur Spec...

The N1 sounds gross IMO, and the Hiper is just overrated/overpriced.

I got my Nur Spec for 75 bucks from a friend and love it, it sounds great on my KA and looks good too. :)

im pretty sure i saw a thread with dyno sheets somewhere around here on a ka with 3 inch exhaust and it had no losses just gains throughout the rpm range, i think it had 8hp more on the top end, the dyno graph was nice compared to stock it was more powerful the whole time, i will try to find it

More than likely they come from the same factory in japan, and their build qualities are just about equal. Really, you can't go wrong with either of them.

I have a new N1 for my stock S14. Its not loud. Its nice. The horspower gains are like 3 to 4 less than with the larger piping. Nothing important. Plus the tone is deeper.
