Well I've had it w/ this ticking, I'm going to pull off the valve cover and replace the lifters; unfortunatelly I don't know how...
Is this difficult? Aside from the valve cover, what else will have to be removed to get at the lifters? Do I need a new gasket for the valve cover?
Any help would be appreciated....
What motor do you have?
Valve cover gasket: maybe, personally I would replace it. It's not expensive in the big picture of the job.
If you have a KA24DE I don't think they're hydraulic.

KA24E,
I'm pretty sure it's a lifter causing the noise, although I just pulled my injectors last night and found a cracked one so that's probably not helping...
Anyway, I guess I'll replace the gasket but does anyone know about changing these lifters?

To find out if it really is the lifters just wiggle each one and if they aren't tight that is what is causing the noise. It'll probably be around $250-$275 for new lifters and I's suggest getting them all replaced, not just the bad ones. Other than that the job isn't overly difficult if you know what you are doing otherwise have somebody that is knowlegable do it. Good luck!
