Ok I have looked on this site and I have found out the resonator is below the tube that goes down into the wheel well on the y-pipe thingy connected to the stock airbox. Im pretty sure its there but not too sure. Anyhow one of the bolts holding that y-pipe thing on just keeps turning and wont come off so my first question is any tips on getting that sucker off? Also if I am correct on the location of the resonator on my car there is a piece that slides up so there will be a gap inbetween the bottom of that pipe and the body of the car (top of wheelwell) so if thier is no way of getting that damn screw off can I just do that? Also hopefully I can get some help on that screw removal cuz Im planning on getting a cone filter next week. Thanks

Is this for a S13 or a S14?  well for my S14, you have to take the filter box out and there is a screw there.  ALso, go into the wheel well and try to get your head in their and you will see two or three screws that hold the resonator in.

Well you open up the filter box and take the filter out.  Then you should see the nut at the bottom of the filter box.  unscrew it and should come out.

Ok well I got it off, I hope. Its a box thats about a foot long and 5 inches wide right? I hope so cause thats what I took off. It sounds great. Didnt notice much gain in power but it sure sounds great. Thanks for the help and yeah I unscrewed one bolt and couldnt reach the other two so I just pulled till it came out the bolts are still there too. Thats why Im hopeing I did this right cuz it will be a real pain to put it back on. Also whats the point of this box is it just to make it quieter or is there another reason its there? Thanks

Hmm hope you pulled off the right thing! Its not really a box, more like a tube. Kinda shaped funny.

You didn't pull the filter box out did you?  That's what it sounds like to me.

Im sure its not the filter box thats in the top of the engine bay with the filter in it right? the box I pulled out is under the metal of the car. Pretty much the tube before the filter box it goes two ways to the place behind the light to suck in air and it goes down into the metal that is where the box was. Everyone says the removal gives the car a nice growl and it gave my car that. The box really seems pointless to me cuz there was nothing in it and it was before the filter so im guessing it gives my intake two places for air to come into. It really hasnt given me problems with the car so I dont think it will hurt. If I had a camera I would show you what it looks like but I dont so your gonna have to rely on my description. Thansk

this might not work for you, but as a general rule, this is what my grandfather (who runs a farm and can fix anything) has always said

if it won't stay together, weld it
if it won't come apart, torch it
