i know the obx short throw will shorten the throw but will it shorten the length of the actual shifter it self?

No. Just shorten the throw
Yup, what he said...
Why would you want a shorter height though? Other than just the bling bling factor, I don't see any point. He'll i'd take a taller shifter to shorten the distance between shifter and steering wheel and to increase leverage.

no bling bling factor important. i just figured that if you shorten the shifter lenghts wouldnt the thorw shorten? so the short throw shifter acutally lessens how far the top of the knob goes? like instead of throwing the shifter into the backseat for 2nd gear i'd only go say half that distance?
also i want to put a S2k shift knob on my car but im concerned that there will be a big gap between the shift knob and the boot.

Cutting the shifter would reduce throw somewhat, but of course, you would then have to use a knob with set-screws like the MOMO ones.
As far as having a gap b/w the shifter, and the knob, you right. you would have quite a bit of space, unless you cut off a substantial amount. the stock 240 knob sits way down on the shifter. Of course I personally don't mind the gap..

-remember, the stock shifter is BLACK.. that is the OBX, so it would look different.

i have a greddy copy. its by OBX i think. it says Type R, but i love it anyways! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> anyways, it threads at the very top of the knob, instead of the bottom so it actually lowers the shifter height by a good 2". a friend of mine found a real Greddy knob for $35, id go for it if you can find one...
hey charles, where'd u get that nismo sticker?! hook me up! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

you can one for your Very own! All you have to do is Buy a NISMO knob, like me <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> that is the NISMO GT knob.

Actually, when my pilot short shifter broke (ie: the top came undone from the bottom.) I tried this just to see how I liked it. I couldn't get as much leverage on the shifter as I liked and even though it was a butt load shorter(throw) it still took me about the same amount of time to reach the gears as with the stock shifter.

You can shorten your throw by removing the stock leather stiched shift knob by a good few inches, at least I know i can. The knob is huge <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
