Hey guys,

Before you go nuts, I did search on forum's search tool with many different combinations.

I have been reading all kinds of swap guides and the wiring part never applies because they are all DOHC. And apparently there is a difference between the 2 transmission harnessi(es?).

So the mechanical aspect of the swap is all complete, all that remains is the wiring and a fluid flush.

Has anyone here ever done the 5 speed swap on an SOHC motor? If so please detail the wires and plugs that need to be cut, jumped, and/or altered.

I've been checking the schematics specifically for the SOHC but it's too confusing and I'd like to not make a huge mistake.

Here are some pics I just uploaded of the wiring harness where work needs to be done:

Thanks guys,

You didn't exactly specify what you're looking for, but ALL 89-98 automatic transmission harnesses are identical. There is nothing changed in any year. The large 2pin plug is found underneath the fusebox on S13s instead of on top like on S14s, but it's the same otherwise.

There are some wires that need to be jumped and crossed. I want to know which in these pictures it needs to be.

I checked the schematics and there are differences in the harnesses. Extra wires in various places. Just makes things super confusing.

find the plug with only two wires and jump those two. That will get the car to start. The reverse plug is a little different. Hard to explain with out a picture. but I think its the second plug in yours. You will need the one above the black hole without a wire and the one next to it. Run the two wires to the reverse sensor. I think on the other end of the plug, the wires become a lime green and a black one.

The main plug you need to jump to start the car is under the fusebox behind the battery. It is a 2 wire plug . Should be the only 2 wire plug going toward the lower harness.

And its not on those clip where you have your fingers on. Its right below them under the fusebox. So just move your hand lower more from that same spot you had your hand in the pic u will feel it.

Ya Thanks guys I found that plud before hand. It's just I had been using S14 instructions where that plug was the first one. I am jumping them and my friend is coming over to help with the wiring in a bit.

Thanks for the help and I'll post info and pics on the job when it's done so hopefully someone else doesn't have to go through the same headache.

Thanks again,
Dan
