This was just forwarded to me. Some of them you may know about now or maybe going on since. I thought it may help you guys to be aware and make others whom you think are doing so illegally to be aware as well.

1. Carpool lane- 1st time offense $1068.50 starting July 1, 2007 (The $271.00 posted on the highway is old). Don't do it again because the 2nd time is goin to be double. The 3rd time is triple the amount and the 4th time your license is suspended plus $4k to pay.

2. Incorrect lane change- $380.00 Do not cross the lane on solid lines or intersections.

3. Blocking the intersection- $485.00

4. Driving on the shoulder- $450.00

5. Cellphone use in a construction zone: Double fine as of 7/01/07

Cellphone use must be hands free while driving.

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts- BOTHthe pasengers and the DRIVER get tickets.

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles abouve the limit.

8. DUI -JAIL (stays on your record for 10 YEARS!)

9. AS OF 7/01/07, cellphone use must be "hands free" while driving. Ticket is $285.00. They will be looking for this like crazy- They know this is the MOST COMMON of all and easy money for police department.

Remember people, California is down in debt. They will invent anything to get more and more cash no matter how rediculous it seems. Just be reminded and not be offended.

would you stop posting bullshit? please?

there is no law about 3mph over speed limit being that law to pull over

this is all bullshit

it un-validates the entire post.

if you can get this out of a penal code or DMV pdf file screen shot it (from a govt website) with a link then ill believe you.

most of it is not real. some points are

dui = jail. obvious.

cellphone hands free. i believe this one is real

as far as the fine amounts go, those are inflated as well.

funny how this thing has spread like wild fire.

All,

This is actually a hoax. For more information, click on the website:

m

The urbanlegends.com is actually a pretty good website to verify
"important" emails that we sometimes get. They investigate all the
legends that are circulating in emails and in the internet.

The closest thing to the truth about this email is that California will
require hands-free cell phone use.....but not until July 2008.

FYI... Stay Safe...

I got the same email a while back...I think the hands free cell phone part of it affects enough people where we would have heard of this from other sources (ex: news, DMV, etc). They cant expect this new 'law' to get out just thru emails, and expect EVERYONE in the state to drive with hands free sets as of july 1st...just my opinion.
