A deal that could possibly land Kevin Garnett in Los Angeles. And Kobe is not part of the trade...

I know, only rumors but that would make me a very happy Laker fan.

he needs a supporting cast in a hurry. a HEALTHY supporting cast at that.

well....but the kg possibility wouldnt be here if they had gone with the j.kidd trade earlier. a.bynum was the one who was holding that trade off. newest information is that celtics dont like what they're getting and they're backing off.

Pacers were cool - they had Larry Bird for a bit and can't called yourself an basketball fan if you didn't appreciate Reggie Miller. But you're right, they never quite made it over the hump to win it all.

yeah, that's true...
what lakers need is to get rid of mitch and get jerry west back, he makes magic happen...

So true.. Jerry West = Lakers and Lakers = Jerry West. It'll be tough to get him back because of his relationship with Mitch.

Not gonna happen for as long as Mitch Kupchak is there, he cant get Garnett even if Minnesota gives Garnett up for free, bring Jerry West back and he can put together a line up that wont need Phil Jackson to get to the playoffs.

kobe used to be one of my favorite players. now i just see him as a selfish crybaby rapist. hope he never wins another title. but i'll take him in my fantasy team anyday like i have the last 2 years. he's a great INDIVIDUAL player.. with emphasis on INDIVIDUAL... thats why he's such a fantasy stud.

I wouldn't as far call him "selfish." He's one of the most, if not the most, hard-working player in the league. He gets up before the crack of sunrise to train, workout, practice, etc. His passion to win is equal to none. I'd be pretty pissed off also if I did all that shit, to lose.

are you talking about T-Mac when he was with the Magic? or was that Iverson when he was in philly?
My point is everyone has a passion to win...you don't play sports to loose. Bobe would not have to "work" so hard if his teammates didn't suck so much ass - hence the old T-Mac and Iverson reference.
i say bring KG over to mix things up.

Tell me another player who has the same work ethic Kobe has. T-mac and AI? PLEASE. AI is busy getting tatted up and making rap albums. T-Mac is busy being injured.
Kobe's whole life is basketball. He doesn't even hang out with his teammates during non-gametime. He's either at the practice facility or hitting the weights. To other guys, basketball is a job, to Kobe, it's his life.
KG already has a house in Malibu, and is good friends with Kobe, and sources say he called Kobe up to see if him being traded to LA would make Kobe stay.

06-26-2007, 01:21 PM
^^ true he has a more DEDICATED work ethic then others, but the passion/desire to win is (and should be) in every star player.
why does KG want to be traded...because he wants to win and its not happening with the t'wolves. Didn't Bobe want a trade? its just the same shit different player.
- maybe i'm just oversimplifying things

Alienating yourself from the rest of the team isn't always a good idea.
back to the subject.
KG can contribute some added value to the lakers - rebounds and an inside presence, but i'm not sure if thats going to be enough.

Add rebounding and a credible threat to score ANYWHERE from 18 feet in and a proven sense of team loyalty (how long has been been in Minnesota without winning ANYTHING?) to an already dead-eyed killer who, both of whom happen to be good defenders to boot... What more do you need? I mean, a point guard would be nice, but a mediocre one would be SAGE in this situation, and by "mediocre," I mean "better than William 'Smush' Parker," GOD, get him out of town, please.

I think Farmar will eventually come into his own - I mean he was already playing significant minutes in a Phil Jackson team. I like his smarts and think he would fit well in a Kobe/KG team.

I'll give you that, give him a season or 2 more under Phil and he should be AT LEAST what this team needs in a PG, but Kevin Garnett could be the difference maker they need, and I stand firm behind that.

Yeah, I meant we already have if not a potentially great PG at least a very competent one. We would then just need a few more consistent role players.

Not to worry...
"With their bid to land Minnesota's Kevin Garnett all but dead, which can't make Kobe Bryant very happy, the Lakers yesterday restarted trade talks with Indiana about acquiring Jermaine O'Neal. "O'Neal is available and the Lakers are interested," said an Eastern Conference GM last night. "That's what's being discussed now." -New York Daily News

after reading couple articles, it seems like no one (big names) wants to play for boston, haha
that held back couple deals... so if nothing happens in boston, pierce said expect him to go... i guess it's similar to kobe's situation...

While not quite as intriguing as Garnett, any big man worth his salt would be a good fit for the Lakers, so long as they don't prove to be one of Michael Jordan's worst failed exeriments ever, like Kwame Brown was/is.

Yes, but they have to part with either/both of Marion or Stoudemire.
Garnett to the Suns
Marion to the Celtics
Hawks asking for Stoudemire
As long as we get a big man (Jermaine O'neal), I'll be a happy camper.

06-27-2007, 07:08 PM
Yeah, letting go of Stoudemire is the key. Don't really see the Suns needing Garnett or needing to thinker with their line up. Maybe they see as the player they need to get over the Spurs?

Phlip

The suns would have to let go of too much of their (already working) nucleus to be able to afford KG's contract, for even one season.
Let us not forget that he is now 31, with 12 seasons behind him, the sun is beginning to set on his career, while Marion is still only 29 with less of the impact born of being the teams ONLY option, and Amare is, what, 24? Even with microfracture surgery on both knees, I am betting that he has more useful life in those knees than would be the remainder of KG's career, especially considering that he is already a part of a product that is working well.
KG to Phoenix is not going to happen, not in my opinion. McHale wants young players, early draft postions and cap room (not that he'd fucking DO anything with them, using Kevin Garnett's career as the precedent).

You never know PHLIP. Anything can happen in the NBA. I was 100% sure MJ wasn't coming back after winning his 6th title, but he did, on a sour note that is.
I can't wait for the NBA Draft tomorrow. Actually, I'm just waiting on the trades that will happen.

I was reading on MSN at my desk just now and someone mentioned that Glen Davis from LSU, who could have gone in the Lottery a year ago but is now free falling like a in the draft, could still be around to be taken by the Lakers, he would make a good 4 or small 5 too.

Baby Shaq FTL. I read he got injured twice during a 76er workout... Lakers have had too many injuries, no need to add to it. He's injury prone, and he's not even in the NBA yet.
