Ok so i was changing my shocks the other day and i changed the right one and let my friend start the other one while i was doing something.
He stripped the nut that holds the suspension to the chassis it was one of the nuts at the top of the shock.
I left it on there because i had no tool to get it off with i even went and bought a gator grip but that wasn't deep enough to get to the nut.
SO my question is how do i get off the stripped nut? Im not going to use the same shock again so if i have to break it off thats not a problem i just need to know a safe and easy way to get that bitch off of there.
Thanks for any help.

You can either get a nut splitter from an autoparts store or you could use a chisel and hammer to turn the nut off. Hope this helps. If you have some cheap sockets you could hammer on the next smallest size.

i cant stand vice grips....they almost always make it worse...ive only been able to use them efficiently on one nut back in the day....
thanks for the help guys!

i would highly recommend the bolt out..
2nd, cheaper/broker option. Get a 12pt socket that is slighly smaller.. hammer the bitch onto the rounded out bolt and ratchet it off.
then either try to take it out to save the socket or just through the socket/bolt away.. most likely a 13mm which you almost never have to use.. hah

or get the same socket and jb weld it onto there...then try getting it out

haha that sucks...happened to me a like a month ago. but use the bolt out. or you could go my way and use a dremel tool and cut that sucker off. unless you need the little hat thing...then go bolt off....or vice grip just make sure yo get in on there as tight as humanly possible or you will just strip it even worse.

an auto parts sore like advanced auto or autozone wouldnt happen to carry replacement nuts for shocks would they?
cuz if i break it off and cant use it again imma be fucked and i dont feel like talking to nissan about ordering more because the ones here dont know shit about what their doing when they order crap.
how did he do that arent they only torqued to something like 35lbs ( if i understand what bolt your talking about the 14mm?)

Im sure they stock the nut, the problem is its going to be shitty grade. Any jap car dealership will have it in stock, its a common bolt. Im looking at several different kinds as we speak.. Locking, non locking, w/washer.. etc. Theres so many. Just go to Nissan. If they don't have it in stock tell them to fuck themselvs and hit up a Toyota dealer. Ask them to match it up with a genuine OEM part.

bolt out or dremel. And Sunrise is right about getting OEM - it's the way to go with hardware like that.
