View Full Version : RB26 tranny swap....hehe....

Ok I did a search and was just curious of the RB26 swap, I saw a post on one and it interested me, but I read everything on the steering column and brake and suspension work, and the nned of a custom turbo manifold...but I wanna know about the tranny....would the R33 tranny fit?  and if so it first gear would be all the way on the right....or is it  on the left....I keep thinking that it the tranny would be too long and ur stick would be set farther back....or would the sticl be where it should be....could u use an SR tranny with the RB26 bell housing?

LHD and RHD use the same shift patterns. &nbsp;First is always in the same place, up and to the left.

No you could not use a sr tranny on an rb. If you're really serious about doin a rb26 swap just know its gonna cost you an arm and a leg, lots of custom work needs to be done and lots of fabrication. As for a tranny that will work, get one from a rwd rb25, but who knows where the shifter will be located, for sure not in the stock 240 location. Good luck bud

Oh I'm not doing that, not until more people have done it, I am just curious on it.....has anyone on this forum done it, or know of any, I am really curious about the whole shifter location..

You can't use the RB26 tranny because of the AWD set up, also the tranny is way to big for a 240sx. &nbsp;You have to use the RB25 tranny.

Mine sits in the stock shifter location. &nbsp;With the hood closed you would never know I swapped motors.

Is there any fabricating to be done to the rb25 tranny to make it fit the rb26 engine, do you use the bell housing?

&nbsp; &nbsp; I visited your website and saw that you did RB swaps, How hard is it to get you hands on the rb25 tranny, and do you guys fabricate your own motormounts?
