I have a 95 240 with 96k on it, the thing needs a new HG, I was planning to buy the felpro full gasket set and the 10mm arp head studs because i plan to go KA-T in the future, this totals to about $230 before shipping. There is also someone near me selling an auto KA with 133k on it for $300 no wiring harness tho. My question is should i spend the money for the new parts and replace my HG (it will be my first time doing it). Or should I pick up this motor and swap the tranny, use my harness etc?

if you plan on running a ka-t, that stock hg might suffice (not sure if ka24de oem has fire rings like SR).

Either way I say do it, it will give your hands some experience in case you blow it again with boost.

so do you think I should not even bother with the head studs?

if you plan on going ka-t, and going to change the hg, you might as well save up and replace the whole bottom end

I dont really want more that 300whp really only 250-270 so i think i should be good on stock internals

if your tuneing is on point you will be fine with the stock HG up to around 300 hp.

I say go ahead and get the gasket and studs. It's cheaper ,your motor has less miles , and you'll have the assurance of a fresh head gasket

rebuild yours AND buy the other one :) then build up the other one and swap them :)

much nicer to build up a motor outside of your car :) plus you'll have a backup motor if/when your current motor goes kaput
