this might be a dumb question that has been discussed ad infinitum, but how do these people all over the country get drift events in random parking lots and we dont?

Because those parking lots ask for a lot in insurance money here in SoCal. Plus we have actual tracks to go on instead of having parking lot drifting.

well, im in norcal and I would rather go to an event with cones because i cant afford $200 to crash my car into a wall.

wow you're paying 200? sheesh...

all the events here are more around 100, and that with free food, LOL. go to justdrift or other events like that, i know they have cones

Walls arent everywhere in teh track. Just take it easy by the wall and enjoy in the infield. Look up some DD events.

Fuck cone dodging.

I'd much rather do events on courses like balcony and HTM.

doesn't norcal have a lot of events too?

i know people will say, track>cone dodging in parking lots, (which is true), but for beginners though, don't go to the tracks, it'll slow EVERYBODY down, go cone dodging first, you'll learn a lot more at a faster rate, it's like learning to ski/snowboard on a triple black diamond, what's the point...

once you get better then go to the tracks,

there's nothing like htm, different elevations and camber on the turns... oh, that's just sweetness...

thats the main thing, im down for tracks, but i would like to practice on something a little more mellow. altamont just freaks me out. i found a really good enormous parking lot at the dole factory where i live, the ground is good and its fun, so thats good. i cant stay there too long though for obvious reasons.

Ok, now there's a difference between cone dodging at an event and cone dodging in a street lot where you can get into a mess of trouble.
