s14 blacktop

if youve got the money 2JZ FTW:werd:

s15sr with s14 transmission(6->5 conversion for stronger gear box).
second place is a straight s14sr, make sure you find out if its a zenki or kouki s14sr motor.
ka's.... "MEH"
inline 6's/v6/v8... thats not very daily honestly, more like a money pit

SR is cool and all, but if its your daily take into consideration that you might get harassed by the cops. +1 for the newer sr. :)

97-98 Type-X, I'm not aware if there were any differences between it and older engines other than the ECU.

dunno how many time it's mention on zilvia.
type X is a trim, the kouki 180sx had type r and type s also.
the chuki 180sx had type x also.
also you can't use year because japanese release year is different then us.
they sold s14 silvia in 1994.

get a s14 blacktop and paint the valve cover hot pink. that will make it different than everyone elses and then you can say you have the only pinktop sr in the world....

redtop s13...
its the cheapest from the list...
-just buy from a reputable dealer
-whomever swaps must do a good clean swap **take it to a machine shop then replace all gaskets**
-fmic, full exhaust, fuel pump, nice bov...
then you're good to go for the summer.

VQ or VG, whichever you can afford.
I think there are more engines you can drop in a 240 than you can in a civic:)
But like the civic, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I suggest S14 SR
Why, because that's what I'm upgrading to soon from my redtop. Plus I test drive cars with them in and it feels like night and day from a redtop IMHO.

If your funds are appropriate.
Get an S14 or S15 SR.
I was always taught to do it right the first time.
I swapped in a Red top and am happy, but i want more. so im getting ready to swap in an s15sr or ....maybe an RB25...mayyybe
So get the Best one first, dont waste time and money learning through the trail by error way of doing things
listen to good advise. i should have

umm..."CAMARO" and...the LS6 isnt from a "CAMARO", and its not heavy, its like...all aluminum...and its only been on the market like 7 years or so now in the C5 corvette Z06...and produces 405hp, 400tq...badass motor

redtop, slight rebuild, s14 t28. just as good as the s14 sr. none of that vvt shit works after you get cams anyways.

there is more to it than just the VVT....
yea......thats why the RB series came in family sedans in japan/AUS.
thats because people leave them alone in those type of cars... mild mods... dont intend to track the cars... 240 owners just abuse them. finding parts and fast = money pit when you want it now.
there is more to it than just the VVT....
all im aware of is that its newer. but then again im not much of an sr guy.

there are differences beyond injectors, turbo's and sensors even among the s14 and s15 motors. Some people notice the differences... others don't see it amounting to anything special.
its like people who drink coffee, some can tell the differences between the different roastings of a bean... others just say "its just fucking coffee".
Its like people who have ITB's on their car, some know how to use them, others have it just for show.

The LS1 was in the Camaro and Corvette, the LS2 in the GTO & Corvette, LS6/7 in the Corvette Z06.
The LS1/6-speed combo is actually lighter than the KA24DE/5-speed combo.

Is that true? I know it doesn't throw the weight off that much, but I'm not sure if that's true. I remember Henson compared the two. They compared a t56 ls1 with an auto ka, which is sort of bull. I have a hard time believing that. They do have vested interests in the ls1/t56 being lighter. Can you give us a link to an unbiased comparison?

Yup, it's true. I've seen it several places not just Hinson. Let Google be your friend.
The LS is lighter than the KA
The T56 is heavier than the 5-speed.
Together, LS1/T56 is still lighter than the KA/5-speed.
Since the added weight of the T56 is lower and centered in the car, not such a big deal. And when you compare where the weight is in the car against a SR swap, you don't have all the IC piping out front.
