Just got a '95 SE today. Only problem is I can't find a tire pressure sticker anywhere, and can't find anything in the manual. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
It should say somewhere on a sticker in your glove box/middle compartment (arm wrest thing...dono what its called) or inside your door somewhere, near the latch IIRC. there are stickers in there that tell you things...tire pressure should be one of them.
I've always been fine around 30psi with regular tires...maybe 32 or so, no higher than 35.
You may find this (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/pressure.htm) tirerack.com article useful. Or for a bit more complicated look at it, this (http://www.turnfast.com/tech_handling/handling_pressure.lasso) turnfast.com article.

Thanks for the info DSC. Yeah, the sticker was inside the arm wrest compartment. Found that one of my tires had just 19 PSI!
I have another question. At the front of my car the wheel well gap is 3.5 inches and at the rear it's 3.0 inches. Is this normal?
My Steering wheel and gear shift shake like crazy from 50mph and up. Inflating the tires helped a great deal. I'm going to have the tires balanced tomorrow. Is their anything else that can help the problem?
while you're getting the tire balanced, you might try getting an alignment as well - that is usually a large contributing factor to vehicle shaking/vibrations in the steering wheel at 50+ mph. (AFAI remember)

WOW - 30 psi?! I run cold 36/34. Keep in mind that while helpful, that Tire Rack piece doesn't necessarily speak to your driving conditions or your specific tire. Mine only go up 4-5 psi under even the most extreme driving conditions.
Of course, what Dave said, it probably best as a starting point.

One the tires, if it says, for example, max pressure 35 PSI, how much above that is it safe to go, or effective to go, say for Autocross?

Most likely your max inflation pressure will not be that low, but in general it's good to NOT exceed the maximum tire inflation value. Keep in mind that any numbers are cold, meaning the tires haven't been driven and are at ambient temperature. One you begin driving, the temps will go up so even if it states max inflation of 35 and you went to 34psi, it would not be unlikey to see hot pressures of 37psi which would still be safe.
In general the nissan's (and other car makers'<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> numbers are fairly conservation. I'd say a good place to start is +4psi. The higher numbers will produce a slightly stiffer ride, but provide better turn in (from there adjust to your liking). I, like Mark like to run a little more pressure up front for turn in and a little less in back for a little more grip (Well that's why I do it, and assuming for Mark). On the track they're up around 38psi.
