Hi,
Overheard customers at work saying her dad would get a new plate every other year when he had to re-register his car; because they make you pay all outstanding parking tix when you re-register you're car every 2 years here in Cali.
So he basically avoided paying for parking tickets he had racked up by buying a new license plate each time; of course she did not know how he did it.
This is very intriguing.
Anyone know how this can be accomplished? please p.m. if you wanna keep this info on the DL. :ugh:

While I don't know, this sounds quite interesting. Anyone with any insight on this please shed light on this potential 'loop-hole'

Dream on dude, the DMV will never pass up an opportunity to squeeze more money out of you. If you have unpaid parking tickets they will simply freeze your registration on that car. You wont be able to make any kind of transaction (including buying new plates) until youve paid off any outstanding fines.

i doubt this would work. to get new plates theyre going to have to look into ur car's registration history anyways. so they will have all the info on their screen when u get new plates. u have to show them ur registration also to prove that its registered to get new plates. my cousin got a fix-it in his z32 for not having front plates. he went and got a new plates, and still had to re-register 2 months later.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

You can't afford a $30 parking ticket?
You can't read a sign that says "No Parking"?

I'm sure paying off a few parking tickets is MUCH cheaper than getting caught for any of this nonsense.

Personal Responsibility: Better than socialism, Everybody benefits as hard as they work.

You should check yourself if your getting too many parking tickets, obviously you are not being a good motorist.

Maybe a tree branch was hiding the sign. Or he spent the $30 on an ebay intake already, so now he cant afford the ticket?

i doubt it would work,

unless they know of someone INSIDE dmv... that type of shady under the table stuff goes on everywhere...

maybe the plates are also out of state? that's a different ball game...

i don't know about cali but in WA, if you have a parking ticket after a month it gets sent to collections if you don't pay it.. Which means if you don't pay it your credit will suffer

I've paid older tickets, now some 2 old ones are catching up. I used to work at Tower Records on the strip. They had us park in a lot down the street so customers could fill up the small lot in front. So they gave us a pass each month to put on our dash. I'd say out of 280 times I put the pass face down once and forgot to put it up once. So there are the tix. I did the whole e-mail the dmv site and they never got back to me. waited and never got a response. boohoo for me. Any who hadn't paid em yet and they grew immensly over the course of time. Sux for me. So now the total due is like $280! for 2 tix plus $50 reg fees. Cali is hardcore. Just overheard this idea at work and thought it had a chance. Well fuck me. thanks for nada. And don't act like you all don't get super pissed at a parking ticket.
