Erm... What do you guys think about this?

http://www.evite.com/r?iid=DUZORWTGOAYKHWPDTIWG&li=iq

Personally, I'm starting to hate it. It sounds like a Rice event and it's hyping up our cars, which I really don't want happening. Is this gonna give 240SXs in the SF Bay Area a bad reputation? Or am I just thinking too much? Look at the phrases this guy uses:

- "240sx is on the brink of return."
- "Along with that the break through secrets to SR swapping and KA engine overhauling."
- "A car that has been labeled as the drift king."
- "I'm working on getting more lady friends to model for us; indiscretely of course.. (or at their own PG13 to rated-R level) most of them my lil sisters willingly participating"

Ugh... So should I and others in this area do something about this? Cuz sometime this month we will run the norcal240sx.org web site, we will have the NorCal 240SX mailing list, and we can ban this guy from using either of those. We'll also be setting up our own meets and I know I can make better flyers than this guy or his friend or whoever made that amateur graphic. I mean come on...

And here's the meet me and some other Zilvia people have been organizing:

Unfortunately our meet was planned on short notice and this guy has been organizing his meet since before the Convention. So what do you guys think about this?

Dude, you better be there or the future of the silvia/240sx will be out of our hands All the years of development and following in japan in one night could take a major shift as a couple teens in the bay area "strike iron while it's hot" and reform the entire community and realign it as the major import force in the galaxy. Tens of thousands of posts on freshalloy and zilvia will be meaningless as these guys tell us what's up and dictate the future of our beloved rides.

Or the meet is gonna be a bunch of ricers who don't do shit and will get broken up by the cops after 15 minutes for doing donuts in someone's parking lot

I wouldn't give these guys a second thought other than about using your club name. It could be fun to show up and laugh at them too.

Ehh... fuck 'em.

I doubt they'll get very far. Didn't you mention before that they have been advertising this along with illegal racing? If so, be sure that the po's already know what they're up to, and they'll be ready and waiting.

Don't sweat it much... anyway, I was going to come out today to D&B's, but my car's in the shop getting painted (remember me? Primered Silvia from the caravan! ), and punk-ass Alan was at work, soo... yeah.

Maybe we should go just to start trouble.

it looks like he's calling us out.
anyway, its obviously retarded. but man, i think its sad how people cant wait for the next bandwagon or "cool thing" to get into. one of the things i like about the 240sx community is that we like our cars, not because the popular majority tells us to, but because we have our own opinions

Marc (the guy hosting that meet) came to the August 11 meet for a bit. He seems like a decent guy in person but, well, I've already given my opinions about his invitation. :P I talked to him about it and, unless I heard wrong, he basically said that the street racing and modeling stuff are for bayareastreetracing.com (BASR). And the stupid disclaimer sent out to three different police departments in the area was BASR's idea also. He said he himself probably won't be going to the planned street race after the meet, and that he planned it for BASR. He also asked me to tell people that it's not a street racing meet... It's not a street racing meet. ^_^; But even so, the misleading info and cheesy hype he chose to put in the invitation were his. According to him, he hopes to bring in Ricer kids and enlighten them. Well I wish him luck on that. Many people from the August 11 meet said they won't be going to the August 23 meet.

there were plenty of unenlighted people at the meet on sunday. heh.

Honestly though, If you visit freshalloy and zilvia, the enthusiast level of freshalloy is on a whole different level. I am not putting zilvia down. The people here seem a lot more friendly. I am just saying dont take everything you read here as fact. Post at Freshalloy, you will probably be degrated and flamed, but your answers are right on the truth, because if someone posts bad info, TY, ASAD, Alex, or someother bad ass nissan folks will word them up.

yeah freshalloy is a place for people who know all their stuff. lots of them are KA-t and SR dudes. i dont post cause i dont know my stuff like they do ahahah, so i just read.

well if you got a question and cant find it in a search, go for it. It probably wont get flamed. smart set of guys, but mostly everything has been covered. search and if you dont find anything... ask. you will be helped out quickly.

i go there, but it gets old how cool they think they are sometimes. Ive been skateboarding for 16 years and have had multiple sponsers. When someone asks me a question, i dont treat them like a moron just because they cant skate as good as me or have as much experience.

skateboarding huh? I work at a skatepark for the city of san jose. You should come out sometime and show the kids some moves. We had Jose Rojo come out for a demo. He is pretty awsome.

dont you have to be residing in san jose to skate at that park? thats what i heard at least. is that the same park jesse erikson works at?

jOeHaCk98
08-13-2002, 08:45 PM
no, its not the same park, and no, anyone can skate it. Its a mobile skate park. Nothing super great, but it a lot better than what the kids have at there houses.

what park do you work at? my friend just got hired at the vans one in greatmall. im not much of a skater myself. its cool to watch, my cousin is a sponsored inline skater, dont take offense or anything, watching videos of you guys is pretty badass

sup guys, havent been on this forum in a while
but just to give a heads up on the freshalloy forum, some guy planning a 240sx meet in sac, also seem like u guys want one in sj too, u guys should pick sumwhere inbetween give both side of the bay to meet up.
pick sf like the beach, it big area for parking, and sunny on a great day. i went to a miata meet there and it was cool.
but we should go to the sj one just to see how it is like and show this guy up by making a meet on the same day at the same spot just like 50 feet away from them or sumthing

Hey guys, damn missed the meet on the 11, was that good? I was i L.A again. Hey I think thats a good idea, make a seperate meet like a few rows over from where they are all parking. Instead of being their at 7, lets meet there around 8 or so. maybe we should meet at a diff spot at 7 and then all roll intogether at around 8.

anyways just my thoughts

trsilvias13, were you referring to the "Sacramento 240's" thread in FreshAlloy? Look at the dates of those posts. Nothing's really being planned. I only replied to that thread to make them aware that we're planning meets and that NorCal is getting organized. The August 11 meet at Milpitas wasn't just people from the SJ area. We had people from San Mateo, San Francisco, Tracy, Stockton, etc.

bayarea240, yes the August 11 meet went pretty well. Over 40 people showed up and signed up for our mailing list (which will be available soon).

I don't think we should have a meet on August 23 just so we can screw up Marc's meet. Let's have the next meet in October or late September and just ignore that "2.4 Aftershock".

Yeah, i agree with daniel. We can just have our meet at another time.

Note: I will have a bunch more companies avaliable shortly. I'll keep you all posted.

Danny,

Methinks once a month for a meet would be good.

And maybe a tech day here and there... mebbe we should organize a BBQ?

Danio
08-16-2002, 12:39 AM
I think once every six weeks or two months would be better, mainly because this gives us more time to plan. Let's say after a meet, we spend up to two weeks deciding what to do for the next meet and where to hold it. Then we spend a month to organize and publicize the meet. Why so long? Cuz we're all busy people who can only devote a portion of our time to this stuff. =)

But of course anyone can plan a separate smaller meet.

Okay, let's put all future posts regarding planning meets at the other thread: Northern California discussions (http://www.zilvia.net/f/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=3;t=13813;st=125).
