Everytime I hear Motegi I think of that commercial that is always on Speed Channel When Hi-Rev Tuners is on, and the Celica with Altezzas and a wing and some funky paint job, is rollin down the street.

So thanks to Speed Channel I dislike em, I have a soft spot in my heart for 5Zigen Typhoons.

What kinda car you got?

these are copies of the advan model 7s.. when I see these, they remind me of Non Fujita's 240sx with the Gunmetal ones, BAD ASS is all I can say.

You can get MR7s at pep boys for cheap.  I guess thats why so many people have them around where I live.  Save up longer.  Get OZ Superleggras.

MR7's are gravity cast wheels, thus they are very weak, and heavy also. My friend had MR7's on his Civic, and they have a few small cracks in them already. Motegi is good for looks, but if you are looking for a performance wheel, Motegi is definitely not the way to go.

Can it be safe to bet that these have an ET of +40? I made the mistake of getting high offset wheels in the past because they were nice, cheap, and light (Rota Slipstreams in gunmetal). I figured I'd just buy some nice spacers 15mm-20mm to get them to fit nicely. Big mistake. The wheels looked nice but not on my car. It's one thing to have stock wheels that tuck in but to actually pay money for wheels that tuck in and make your car look cheap, no thanks.

It'll just cost more in the long run and doesn't seem worth it. I got lucky by selling them for a good price for them on eBay and bought me some decent wheels from TireRack that actually fit my car. I bought some simple, classic looking (what I like) SSR Integrals 16x8 +32ET on closeout for $199 a wheel. These wheels aren't fancy Advans or Volks but aren't bad. They're semi-solid forged so they're a helluva lot stronger than some gravity cast mass market wheels. They also provided a proper hub ring to sit on my hub like stock, SSR lug nuts, and even some nice chrome SSR valve stems with valve caps engraved with "SSR" :) You live and learn.

FYI, motogi are U.S. made wheels by a U.S. company (can't remember the name) that have the motogi "brand" to make people think they are jdm. I don't really care about jdm but they also tend to be heavy and poorly made so your mileage with them may vary but it seems some people enjoy them.

they are owned by American Racing.

heh heh funny thread. I just swapped the set I've had on my civic for 3 yrs to my 240 to burn off the tires. These rims are HEAVY, cheap and made like crap. Once my rubber is gone they are getting painted and sold. btw. my 16's are +32 offset nad don't look too bad on the 240. They offer more clearance for Z32 26mm calipers too. Probably could fit 30's even.

I should've posted in that "who has the most wheel gap" thread

a good friend of mine has them on his g2 integra. they're gunmetal... and they look good with the black/white theme hes got going on with the moldings and dark tint. i like em' pretty nice looking rims.if you get them... get 17s, those 16s look like ****. what color is you car stil bil? what year as well?

SlowEXd has them in 16 and states they're HEAVY. Yet you suggest getting an even heavier 17. Makes sense to me, I LOVE lots of rotational mass, its my friend:D

Actually the wheel looks rather sharp, it's a shame they have to be of such cr&p build. I am also surprised that they came in a +32 offset, that seems odd for a mass market wheel in the US. Maybe its because they're made by American Racing and they realize RWD cars do exist.

It seems like such a chore to find decent quality, acceptable weight wheels for an affordable price. I still think the Kosei's are the best bet going on even though I don't know what they are offering nowadays in offset. Too bad TireRack doesn't have the gunmetals anymore:(

I like 16 inch wheels because my suspension is too d&mn stiff as it is....
