Hey guys i am attempting to rewire my fuel pump using a stock relay. here is how i have set up the relay:

does that look right?

Basically thats it, you would want to use the stock fuel pump power wire as the "trigger", as you call it, on the coil side of the relay. And make sure you use a fuse on the 12V supply.

sweet thanks for the info

well with this setup, the relay clicks when i turn on the ignition, but the pump does not prime. i have the pump grounded and the 12v is coming from the relay.
does the ecu send a hot signal to the relay or is it a ground signal?

If you are using the pump output it sends a hot signal

if you hear the relay click then it sounds like the coil is powered and switching the circuit. If your relay has the numbers next to the pins or a schematic on it, make sure that the fresh 12v source is going to 30 and 87 is going to the pump.

the only numbers i have on the relay are the ones i put in the pic. i took the stock relay out of the relay box and i am rewiring it

well if you have a multimeter is really easy to check you work, with the key in the ign make sure the fuel pump trigger reads 12v for a few seconds(from the ecu), also check your 12v source to make sure thats correct as well. You can test to see if you wired the relay properly, disconnect the fuel pump trigger from the ecu to the relay, run a small wire from the 12v source to 1(relay coil), see if the pump primes or just check the voltage at 5 (output)
it's possible you messed something up be trying to rewire the stock fuel pump relay, what most people do is use the power wire at the fuel pump to trigger a new relay with a fresh 12v from the battery that outputs to the fuel pump, this ensures that the fuel pump receives proper voltage at all times (but only when the ecu would be triggering it of course)

Are you re-using the stock relay to trigger your relay, or are you replacing the stock relay and triggering it right off the ECU?
I think you're doing the latter... Just bust out your DMM and find out wth is going on. Be sure to update your post when you get it working correctly for others searching on this topic later

i actually swapped a ka24de into my s12 200sx. I am using the stock s13 relay to trigger my s12 pump

Go to the auto parts store and just get a standard Bosch style relay they are like 2 bucks and that way you dont have to guess and check the wires
secondly when you put a 12 volt source to your pump does it power up?

yeah if i go 12v straight to the pump with it also grounded, it turns on.
so do you think it may be the stock relay that isnt working?
Thanks for the help so far everyone i really appreciate it!

That is my guess something in that realy is not working...I would recommend getting an aftermarket bosch style relay that way if it goes bad you can just go to any auto parts store...pick up another relay and be on your way.
