I just installed an Apex turbo timer, wired just as the instructions say. Started the car, set it for 30 seconds and started counting down but I could not remove my key and when it was done counting down it reset and started over. My car was originally automatic and did a swap to a 5spd. I was thinking this had something to do with it, but never installed a turbo timer so I am unsure. Can anyone give me any info?

Tried pressing the button to remove it? And what did you do with the white wire?

When did you do the swap? Did you wire the park release nice and secure?
I had mine electrical taped to itself and one day i was working around the console. Afterwards it wouldnt give me my key. Lazy fix, just taped it back.

No, the key only gets stuck when thr turbo timer is on and works normally when it is off. In other words I have to shut the timer off just to get the key out.

Where is this park release wire located in the car? I did not do the swap myself so I wouldn't know

Im not a 100% positive but I think he's asking if you spliced the grey wire (the wire from the turbo timer that goes to the parking brake) to the wire that goes from the parking brake to the dash to tell the brake light to come on.

Christ.
Pop off your steering column surround.
Find the solenoid that locks the key in place.
Disconnect the spade clip that supplies it power.
Once that's done (before reinstalling trim), test the system.
Turn car off, REMOVE KEY, and see what happens.

Wait, I've got a very similar issue with an s13 that I swapped from auto to 5spd. The key gets stuck in the ignition after the engine is turned off, and will only release after what looks like a tiny red 'tab' is lifted. The tab I'm referring to is located behind the ignition lock, and underneath the top steering column guard.
Earlier a parking release was mentioned - maybe my wiring wasn't complete. Is there a parking release switch that must be re-wired to allow the key release button alone to let the key out?
