Hey guys, thought i'd make a useful contribution as first post, i have a 98 blacktop SR in a 91 FB. I have always wondered whether the knockoff blow off valves were worth a damn, so i thought i'd see for myself. Just recently purchased the 'pull-type' hks ssqv knock-off blow off valve, $65.00 shipped off ebay. I disassembled it and compared to a friends real ssqv, and then put it to use, here's my review:

Quality:

Gaskets on knockoff appear to be same rubber, thickness, and elasticity, however different color. The knockoff has a cheaper spring i've noticed, and the adjustment screw isn't attached to the inner diaphragm press in the rear of the bov like the HKS.

Performance:

The bov came with block off plate, o-ring, c-clip, two t-fittings, hose clamp, and steel flange <- i was really pleased. Welded the flange on my custom hotpipe and mounted the bov w/o adjusting the screw.

The bov sounds exactly like the hks ssqv, and i did a simple bag test under throttle over the bov, it did not appear to leak, and the bov did not stick open either when the throttle was released.

My opinion:

Definitely worth the money, it is nearly an exact replica of the hks ssqv and does not leak. It sounds great and i was happy with everything that came with it.

If you're cheap or broke, this is a good bov for the money, and definitly not a piece of crap knock off as compared to other types of bovs with cheaper diaphragms.

What boost are you running? ... I'm kind of skeptical seeing that you've been a member for less than a month... for all we know you could be the seller on ebay :p.

Well not sure, it goes to 15psi but after certain rpm drops down to about 11psi, i hate t25s... I'm off/on FA member just joined a while ago... I did alot of searching on google for reviews on this bov, so i bought one... Im not the seller on ebay although i wish i was, hes gotta be making moolah like crazy. Anyways, just ask if you have any more questions.

Did any of the rubber start breaking down or leaking?

Still running strong, no leaks, i even took it apart to check it, everything is fine! Convinced a few friends to buy this too, they were impressed w/ the quality. If you like my contribution, help me build my rep!!
