So I'm finishing my SR Swap in my garage, and we've replaced my fuel pump with a Walbro 255 and now it's getting fuel and it will start up and idle and drive, albeit not the smoothest ever haha. It was idling at about 1200-1400 rpms, high, but not terribly out of wack, nothing that wasn't fixable.

This is a Redtop SR into a 1989 Hatch Chassis btw.

I took it for a little drive, to put some Gas in it, 93 octane, premium of course, and on the way I found out 3 things, one, the valve cover gasket had been put on wrong and I was leaking oil, which we fixed when we got back to the garage. (i live like 1.5 mi from Gas Station).

The second problem we found is my coolant is leaking, at the firewall, where it goes into the heater core, or out of the heater core, don't recall which one. We took the Dash out and will be finding and replacing whatever is leaking, whether it be just the nipple on the Heater core, or the whole heater core, or just the hose. We'll see.

Now number three, the one that I need help on, is during the drive to the gas station, the car began idling at 3000 rpms. The RPM's crept up slowly while I was driving and pretty soon I didn't have to push the gas to let out the clutch and start, it was at 3000 so it would start on it's own. Now I couldn't just leave my foot off the pedal because it would drop back down where the engine was but, it wanted to be at 3 grand. As soon as I would put the clutch in or anything, it would go right up to 3000. and if higher, than it would slowly go back down.

Is it just my timing is WAY off? And what should I do..? Or what else could it be?

Yes, I checked the FSM and couldn't find the answer to my question. It's possible it's in there, but I couldn't/didn't see it.

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
-Andrew

small vacum leak maybe..
-check the throttle cable and throttle body.. make sure its closing all the way.. maybe clean it out a little.

try adjusting the idel air control valve.. under the intake manifold, you'll see a big screw.. slowly turn it.. to adjust the idel level..

throttle cable adjustment?
Vacuum leak?
verify timing?
02 sensor getting voltage?
all grounds tight?
MAF tube NOT leaking?
IC pipes tight?
