ok...ive searched about a billion different times and havent found anything relating to my issues

i have a 93 S13 coupe with SR redtop swap and a digital cluster...i cant stand it...waste of time cluster...so i took it upon myself to change my clusters out...i miss my analogue happiness

so...one day yours truely went out in to the garage and dug out the following..

1) USDM analogue cluster
2) JDM analogue cluster
3) USDM analogue subharness (that goes from the cluster to the dash)

now...i yanked out that nasty ol digital cluster and subharness...plugged in my USDM analogue harness with my USDM analogue cluster...and to my amazement...IT DIDNT WORK...with the car started (for testing purposes)...the RPMs did not work...the gas gauge and water temp gauge shot straight the top...but the proper option lights turned on (seat belt, battery etc) in their proper order and function...so unhappy with my results...i turned the car off...plugged in my JDM cluster...and again...same results...gas and water gauges went to the top and no RPM readings

i have read time and time again that you simply plug the analogue sub harness into the dash harness and plug the appropriate connectors into the analogue harness and all is supposed to be dori dori happiness...well its all lies i tell you

im no newbie to the S chassis...been building em for 5 years now...however ive never run into this problem (prolly because ive never had a 240 with a digital cluster until now)...a few guys here in town i know who are damn good with S13s as well have almost the same problem with their attempted digital to analogue cluster swap

and just to throw this in here...BOTH of my clusters (the JDM and USDM analogue clusters) worked fine...the USDM cluster and subharness were removed from my old running 1992 hatch and my JDM harness had been in both of my SR swapped sileighties...so EVERYTHING worked fine when it was removed

i really want my analogue cluster back...but with this problem stated above i need input from others...so please input away...thanks

As long as you use the analog harness it should work. I went from the digital cluster to analog. Maybe the harness is bad?

You may need a jdm harness to run the jdm analogue cluster. I switched my usdm HUD(non working speedo) Digital cluster to analogue with the matching harness and it works perfect. If one wire is in a different pin location it will cause odd problems. Also compare the two harnesses to see how different the wires and pin location are. It seems like there could also be short in your analogue harness, if the speedo and the tach shoot to the top, they reading a higher voltage than they should be. There's my two cents, Good luck

us harness works with jdm cluster, its plug and play

i thought of something earlier today...i wonder if the ECU had anything to do with it...when i tried to swap the clusters out i had my KA in there...havent tried it on my powerFC ecu yet

also im wondering if the subharness from the hatch may be slightly different than the coupe subharness...buddy of mine in town has a coupe harness...so i will be paying him a visit to do some testing

thanks guys...i appreciate the feedback

the sub harness on a hatch is the same as a coupe. I got mine from a hatch and I have a coupe It works fine. try hooking up your buddy's cluster and if that doesnt work try your sub harness on his car.

figured it out...i double checked both harnesses and found that the ground wire was stipped and almost snapped...so i stripped it completely..cut it and rewraped it together and bam...IT WORKED!!!

it feels so nice to have my analogue cluster back...i even pee'd a little =)
