OK, well, I ran some more "tests" on the new shifter I still love it, but I thought I would fill you all in on the "buzz". Basically, you can ONLY hear it with the radio off, at low speed (30-45), with the windows up, at partial throttle. If this is where you spend a lot of your time driving, don't get this shifter But if this is where you spend a lot of your time driving, you need to sell the 240 and buy an Insight. So for me, it's not a problem. I never noticed it until I was LOOKING for it. On the freeway, the tire and wind noise along with the exhaust drown out the sound. Add the stereo in to that, and you can't hear it at all.
The reason it does this and the OBX and C's don't is because they are a 2-piece construction (C's is fully welded) and between these two pieces they have rubber insulation. That's what keeps the sound out. Personally, I prefer this insanely precise shift feel. It's like I can feel every tooth of every gear when I shift. Wacky. You DON'T miss shifts.

no, and it probably won't be fixed by the 24th. i'm broke again. unless i can get the alignment on the 20th or something, it'll have to wait until after the meet. i'm hoping to just have the shop put on new tie rod ends when they do the alignment...just need to get paid first. shitty thing is, the new tie rods probably won't fix it. nothing is EVER that easy to fix on my car. but if i DO get new tie rod ends put on and an alignment before the meet, and it's still clunking, we're totally checking it out.
