just wondering what everyone thought of the ebay strut bars. i heard from a lot of my friends that buying the named brand ones all you pay for is the name. so i was looking at a bunch of ebay ones and found a full 3 pc set for like 25.00 with 28.00 of shipping. and the one i orginaly wanted where the tein ones witch are 125. each
i was just wondering if i was really paying for the name or not and should i just go with the ebay ones and slap a tein sticker on it lol.
thanks

well... some ebay strut bars have really weak mounting plates. they might bend when putting tightening them down. If you don't track the car that often i would just suggest going with ebay bars.
the only thing that looks fishy about them, is that u tighten them, so what happens if they loosen up?? probably wont do u much good, and most of the brand names ones are welded to the size of your car or most i have seen, but dont know if its a huge diffrence

just buy the cheap ones. some people don't even like the feel of a front strut bar.

The best ones I've seen so far are the DC Sports.
No joints or anything to flex on you, and no bolts to come loose.

I got mine for about $105 each.

a bar is a bar. there are some d-spec brand that are very nice. i got those for the s14. real well made and they are about 130 bux for both. you can of course get ARC or nismo but its just a bar, spend money elsewhere. unless u wanna be baller

Like I posted in a similar thread to this made up the other day, buy the 25 dollar bar, and use the money you saved on real suspension mods, like coilovers/diff/swaybars/tires

I picked up the ebay ones that have fixed ends (as opposed to threaded ends). Didn't really feel a difference (already have coils/decent tires/diff/sways). Meh, they were cheap.

if your car was stocked and have them installed, you will feel a slight difference. but save the extra money for major suspension mods like sway bars and coils.

make sure you cant bend it and make sure the welds are stout....
all you can ask for in a strut bar.

+1 for DC Sports. Buddy has used them on his Civic's. Definately some nice quality too.

the problem with the ebay ones is too many flex points. The ones that have the adjustable joints are intended as universal strut bars. Thus the adjusting points.
The bad part is that they allow for flexing at those points. If you look at how they are setup, you can pivot the mounting plate up and down as you see fit. Of course this will allow for a good fitment to just about any car, the vertical flexing is a no-no for stability control. Lateral movement will cause this joint to flex up/down thereby defeating the effectiveness of this part.
The only way i can see minimizing this is to practically torque the bolts to the point of breaking, and using lock tight so that they dont come loose. Otherwise it's a waste of money. Or you can just mount the bar and then weld the adjusting points up tight so that it'll never move and will be set for your car model only.
Just get the DC or tein ones, no flex points equals effective use of the mod.

Some ebay ones are bendable by hand.

The problem with most ebay bars is that they look like you could bend them with your bare hands. What good is it if it's made out of an old shower rod? And as always, when buying no-name ebay stuff, you have a much higher chance of getting crap.

Dude it's a motherfuckin strut bar, if you need to ask about it, you're not doing anything where such a bar would make a difference
just lie in your mods list on cardomain and say it's an Arc Super Rare limited edition Ebay-Colored bar
