Hi guys. Let me first say, I did search. I didn't find anything similar to my problem. Chances are, I may have missed it. Sorry if I did.

Anyhow, on to the problem. I got home the other night and as I clutched in to park the car, it died. No big deal to me, it does this all the time(usually when getting off the highway though, not when parking) I go out the next morning, and the car wont start. The way it cranks sounds to me like a car that has a broken timing belt.(not possible I know as we have a chain) So today, I finally have time to take the valve cover off and I have my dad crank the car for a few seconds. The crank moves(I know that because the crank pulley and belts move when the car is cranking), but neither one of the chains moves. What is the best possible culprit for what broke? When the car shut off that day, I heard no noises or anything out of the ordinary, so I'm kinda stumped.

Thanks for any help.

Broken lower chain?

Lower chain snapped. If you cranked it, you kissed the valves. Start tracking down a new longblock.
