Car won't start after alternator installation. When I try to start the engine, it just gives me a click sound. It's S14, 200k miles. Any help?

I pushed gas pedal while starting and got it started. What's wrong with my car? Starter??

How do you figure? Applying throttle upon startup has nothing to do with the starter.

I would say not enough tension on alt. belt, double check bolts on alt. bracket as well.

could also be clutch switch or starter relay.

Nah, that wouldn't make a difference either. Lack of tension on the alternator belt would just make the belt slip while the engine was running, and the alternator would hardly be doing its job. It would still crank just fine, as the alternator and starter don't work together.
S14sx, do your headlights/dome light/door buzzer/brake lights all still work fine? Basically what I'm asking is, are you getting a decent amount of power from the battery? Also check to make sure that your battery cables +/- are tightened down properly. A weak ground cable on the terminal and your car won't start either.
If you're getting power with the engine off but it won't crank, your starter is the culprit, not your alternator.

Autozone/Kragen/Checkers can test your starter for free, btw. In case you didn't know.
