ok, so i have a redtop sr in a s13 hb.

i am removing the head so that i can replace it/ "rebuild" it. i have everything removed and am now down to removing the head bolts (in the correct order of course) and they wont budge! fyi these are the ones located under the cam's that take a 10mm allen key to get off.

so i tryed to use a cheater bar and they still wont move.:-/

is there something crucial that i am neglecting to do?

ANY help would be greatly appriciated.

I was taking the head bolts of my KA last night and I had to put both feet against the block and pull as hard as I could to loosen them. Its not in the car incase you didnt guess

i see, im using a 10mm allen key, but i think i may need to go out and buy one of those allen keys that fit on a socket wrench. im afraid that i will strip out the bolt or break the allen key.

so im guessing that it is normal for it to be this hard?

Just use a breaker bar and get a little work out....

Remember to only loosen them at first a little at a time, following the correct order, before you finally remove them completely.

Those bolts are in there tight for sure! My second time rebuilding an sr, I broke a brand new craftsman 10mm allen head first tried. Went back to sears and got another one. Use a breaker bar and have someone push the ratchet down while you turn.

use an impact gun to be sure you wont strip out the bolt heads. or since im assuming you might not have air tools, atleast get the socket version, so you can use a huge breaker bar.
