i did all of the wiring on my swap, s13 btop in an s13 coupe, re checked them 4 times so i think that they are ok, but its still runnin rich. would a vac leak make it run rich.u know the insulation wire rapped around the afm wires? if that insulation wire is cut would that cause a problem. i can pull off the afm connector and it will still rev past 2500 rpms. so my issue is that it smokes, and its not pulling. i hear the turbo and when i let off it has the sequential bov sound. thanks for looking.

would a vac leak make it run rich.

It may. It depends on what's leaking.

u know the insulation wire rapped around the afm wires?

I don't know. What is the "afm wires"?

if that insulation wire is cut would that cause a problem.

Just the insulation, or the whole wire is cut?

i had to extend the wires that connect to the air flow meter. there is 3 wires, a white , a black, and a black and white, but there is grey insulation wrapping around them with some wires on the inside. i figured that if it was cut it would be no problem cause it was only insulation, but i dont know. what would make it run rich if it was leaking.

Are you talking about the shielded wire and you did not extend your MAFS wires with shielded wire?

extended with shielded wire. no. its extended with the wires from the old ka harness. the shielded wire was cut to test continuity, and power flows through all 3 wires. i dont understand how power is getting all the way through the maf connector, but the computer is not reading it. i dont know why its runnin so rich, it dosnt boost, and killin my gas. when i first put it together i would get 100 miles on a full tank. now i get 200 miles on a full tank.

cutting the shielded wire woudln't do anything. that's just a ground. your AFM is all wired up correct. I believe you have a boost leak somewhere. most likely from a bov or a couplin.

OP, i notice that you're in upland. I'm in rancho, i could come by and help you in person.

g6, afm = air flow meter ;)

i found the boost leak. i pulled off the ic to clean it out and to change the gaskits. i spraid break cleaner in it and all of a sudden it started leaking out of the ic on the side where there is some clasps that wrap over from the radiator lookin center section to the left side of the ic if ur lookin at it from the wheelwell. anyway i tapped the clasps over with a hammer and spraid brake cleaner in it again and it didnt leak out, and i changed the gaskits. i know that it doesnt mean that its not gonna leak but it should be a little better untill i get another ic. so im gonna start it up and see what it does. lata
