do your headlights and shit work?
sometimes the battery's not charged enough to start the car, but it has enough juice to still power the radio, headlights, etc..
once you turn the key to "start" do you hear a clank (starter), a click (fuse or relay), or just nothing (absolutely dead battery)?

look at the starter there is a small wire/ plug that goes on to it, if it is disconected the car will not start via key but can be jump started. re-connect it and drive happy. good theft deturrent

Did you check both the clutch switch and the clutch interlock relay?

Right next to the battery, tucked between the fender. There's two relays---pull the one in the back (the one closer to the firewall) and just use a wire to jump the relay.

If you're so hell bent that it's the starter, pull it and have it tested.
Takes a whopping 15 minutes to yank it, longer really for the idiots at autozone to test it.
Did you try hitting it with a hammer? It's not really recommended but I see alot of guys do it just to get it working again.
But it'd be safe to say that if that works you need a new one.
