asking which bov to use is kinda like what brand gasoline you run :). theres push type, and pull type.. arguably the best bov to buy is the HKS SSQV because it wont leak at idle, nor under boost.. any bov does the trick. pimp shit includes tial, samco, arc.. for a more unique sound.. my personal favorite is the greddy type s, cuz it stands out in a crowd of SSQV's.. every body in my area and their mother(litterally) has one. the type s with the removal of the small inner spring doesnt leak boost at idle, nor under boost either.. and provides a deep sound like none other. oh yea.. do u plan on going open atmospheric, or recirc???

any bov that doesnt leak.

hks ssq - i use this.
sard - i like it, looks cool.
greddy type r - nasty sound. damn! ;)
arc - well, simply baller shit.

3 out of those can be recirc'ed if u care

Personally I like using DSM 1G BOV (Crushed). Can be easily obtained for less $30 and can hold up to 20+ psi with no issues. While it may not be the best option if bov sound is what your after. But definitely best bov for the money. IMO

if you don't want leaking issues, go with that racing type greddy or a test and true hks ssqv

or no leaking issues at all, don't run one at all... it'll shorten turbo, sure, but you'll have a very rare sound that'll scare people around you

arc is atmospheric and i just run it with a blow thru maf...it will try and stall out the first couple minutes of start up but after that its fine (i think thats a diff problem though)

JDMClifford

ssqv. adjustable sound, wont leak, keeps a stock sr from stalling when not recirking. inexpensive when you buy a used one.

SSQV = Fail
Plastic Valve wears out in 2 years average.
Does not take to high cfm's well.

Sheepdog/prof/arc= FAIL
Restrictive, watched a turbo eat itself in less than 100 miles from compressor surge because the BOV could not push enough CFM out.

I have something comming for you, that you all will flip over. ;)

hks ssqv= the nipple is plastic, and thus when taking off the hose one time it broke.
greddy type s/rs etc= they leak, and the top screw likes to strip.
blitz ss= never had any problems

i don't run bov's on my cars anymore, its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

is that because you are N/A, or hate your compressor wheel?

SSQV could be solid gold, I still wouldn't run one... I just hate the sound sooooo much, and there are other good ones out there.

The new apexi is supposed to be pretty damn good, dual chamber like the last one, but stronger. Tial/ARC are good I'm sure, but I haven't used one.

I can personally say that the Megan BOV leaks no matter what. You could have the screw turned so tight it will NEVER blow off, and it'll still leak as soon as you're boosting a couple pounds. Absolute crap.

I like the Greddy RS - I'll prob procure myself one of those shortly.

Hmm. Looks like the Greddy and SSQV get the most votes. Guess I'll be getting one of those since they don't leak!

Bosch. I'm poor...

I got one recirculated cha-ching. Leaks like a son-of-a-bitch at idle but holds 20psi steady no leaks. I think it cost me 15 baller dollars.

tial. because i hate the sound the ssqv makes.

although, you want to recirc. get whatever you want. it really isnt that significant.

Im running that same blitz w/ high boost spring but I have a billet recir adapter running a fairly large 5inch long curved hose right into my intake ... and its still loud as hell.... scares the shit out of people walking their dogs and works with no issues or leaks at idle (tested with atmoshpere setup) and my revs dont bog like they were say that "other" bovs couse vs the synchronic... trubo+heathy does of high boost+ right foot = always bad gas milage.... nuff said

no i had a real hks ssqv, but the nipple was plastic maybe just one of the few (got it from phase2). My friend bought his sr'd s13 hatch, and the first thing he did to the car was a blow off valve/hotpipe/turbo timer. He ended up spending close to $400 all said and done. For that price, i would't have spent $400 "protecting the t25" which is probably only worth half that.

go with greddy type-rs if not try to look for a real legit type-s bov even if its a used 1 ,jst call a authorize greddy dealer and purchase a new type-s diaphragm
itll be just like brand new =)

DJ_Sunrise

the type as can hold a ton of boost.. i suppose on ones that are a bit worn they will occasionally leak.. so like stated above, buy a type s, new diaphram, and remove the smaller spring inside the BOV to hold even more boost, and eliminate any chance of leaking.. type s for the win :)
