sry for the stuff stupid questions but i am really confused. so this is whats happening. i passed all the eletrical ecu stuff for smog, but my emission too high. I am running on HotShot Headers and greddy extreme exhaust. Some people told me to put on the stock exhaust manifold and the stock front cat (down pipe). Then other people told me that to get a magna flow. So which 1 do i do? and if i do get a magna flow do i get the piece that replace secondary cat? and is the stock secondary cat hollow and the front cat is the 1 with the filter? thx guys

put your stock exhaust manifold back on and put cat on.

change your oil run it for 30 minutes and youre good to go.

just put the stock exhaust, manifold and cat on. the cat is the one that is after the down pipe youre talking about. which gasses were high?

what's the mileage on the motor...elevated HydroCarbons (parts per million) is a measurement of unburned fuel and NOx (parts per Million) emissions used as an indication of the quality of the a/f burn inside the motor....elevated NOx usuall means a higher then normal combustion chamber temperatore...again mileage on motor, last O2 sensor change out, engine timing, Cat replacemen, General Maint. (sparkplugs,Air Cleaner, fuel system treatmeant, EGR System) brand of gas being used( FPR installed??...all info would be helpful....also full print out of emissions

When you put the header on, it removed your only cat. So of course your emissions are going to be high...

The second cat is hollow. You'll need to do is place the stock header/cat dp combo back on so you can retest.

If you have a spare cat that could replace the oem hollow cat that helps also.

burning oil can register a high HC count as well.

I had this problem too, I changed everything (oil, spark plugs, wires, etc...) except for the o2 sensor and failed... I changed the o2 sensor and all good =)

Yes, that is a reason why you could fail.

But if he wasn't running a cat, that is more than likely the reason he failed.
