hi all if i were to run 18x9 wheels and i use the car for autocross/track

is it better to go with 225/40/18 all around or should i put it as a staggered setup like 215/225 fronts with 235/245 rear?

really appreciate those with track times on different tire setup thanks a lot

If you're autocrossing or track racing and you want to be competitive, I don't think 18" wheels are for you.

That being said, I'd prefer an "all around" setup for autoX and a staggered setup for the track. If for both, I'd do the same size all around.

Opinions opinions. It all depends on how the rest of the suspension is set up.

both setups suck monkey balls, why would you go with so little rubber

Lose the 18s and run 17x9 w/ 245/40/17 on all 4 corners

OptionZero: in your sig are u running 18's or 17's? they're very nice

i run coilovers on the car , just wondering is it necessary to roll/pull fenders? or people do the roll/pull just to slam down their car more?

on the s14 wheel gap it looks like 18's will just make them look better? like 17's just look a lil small , want to be competitive and look good on the car as well =)

thanks for the info guys.... 245 sounds like a lot of tires on a stock KA

you need to do far more searching about wheel fitment and performance in general

looks are subjective, so i can't comment, but 245 is not too much for a stock KA

those are 17x9 in the sig

i found several wheel fit ment threads but all are just pictures nothing mention on the need to roll/pull fenders and quarter panels....

anyy keyword help will be appreciated cause those i tried never came out right

first off, what are the offsets of the rims..that will say a LOT.

Second- if you want any grip, 245 is not too much for a stock ka. I'm running a very stock ka on 255 fronts and 275 rears on 18x9.5 rims.

rolling your fenders is easy

fitment always depends on camber, height, tiresize, and offset

Turdz put 245/40/17 on 17x9 +22 on stock height and untouched fenders
on freshalloy, Kookz put 245/40/17 on 17x9 +15 on stock fenders, slammed to the ground, with a roll and camber IIRC

have you tried searching "wheel fitment"?

i highly doubt you'll be buying wheels so aggressive that they'll require a pull

go to the group buy section and get some MB's to beat on

u dont need to send to a shop to roll fenders?

yea the wheels im thinking to get is from the GB so if 17's it is +17 and 18's is +15 . dont really want to slam it down but put 1 finger grap all around.

you need a torch and a baseball bat
or a heatgun and a fender roller
no reason not to do it yourself. unless you're lazy i guess.

1 finger gap may not be zilvia slammed but its pretty damn low.
what kind of suspension modifications do you have? is your car an s14 or s13?

you may have searched, but you're not really looking meticulously enough. the fact that you did not list your offsets (very important detail), leads me to believe you could benefit from further research. Check out ths link please; Note, that the things you ought to be looking for are;
-width of wheel & tire
-offsets (spacers should be taken into account)
-any fender modifications
-whether or not full coilovers and/or z-brakes/other big brake kits are used.

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=129865

while it will not give you a precise formula per say, it will give you a fairly comprehensive list of what will work, and how it ends up looking. its an awesome resource that imo everyone should consider when planning their wheel/tire setup.

for regular track driving, i myself dont like stretching tires too much, but thats just my personal preference. running on 17x9's, id go no lower than 245's.

What class are you planning on running? I'm going to guess STS, but if you're DSP or SM then you can pull fenders (STS only allows rolling the lip, AFAIK).

I run 18x10 and 18x12 with 285/30/R18 and 315/35/R18 respectively. The 17's have a larger rolling diameter in every R-compound size....

On a 9" wide wheel, though, you'll want at least 245's.

Here is 17x9 +20 with 245-40-17s all around... On an S14 you will have more clearance...

If you want to have fun with your car go with 17s and 245s.... If you want to look good to your friends then go with 18s and 225s and slam the car as low as possible...

And here is one way to roll your fenders... Don't be scared to get your hands dirty and try it out...
