Remember your old intake? Remember how there were 3 tubes that came from the engine to the intake pipe? I just found out that if one of them isn't connected, you'll get the same problem you're having.
It could be this.

mrmigs hit it on the nose, i deeply believe it's your intake piping. if somthing is loose, that's what it does, the engine jumps around on the start-up. that little metal box that the intake passes throught (is it a AFC, MAS or what, i forgot what is called), it detects how much air is passing through and tells the engine how to behaive, so w/ anythin gon the intake piping loose, you get that bumpy startup, or sometimes it starts up, and stalls after a few sec of utterly annoy cry from your car.
p.s. mrmigs! my video! where is it!

if i help you solve the car problem, can you give me 2 wheels? i'm riding on a bicycle right now, i don't want to ride a tricycle, i want a car! you can do it right, you the moderator
i doubt vaccume hoses has to do anything w/ it, there are so little of them, but you can always give it a try, timeing chain off? eww..

That could be the cause.

i kinda had the same problem and it was because of the air-flo meter.

I used to have that in the my neon. I just gave it a quick shot of gas when I started it and it was fine. Plus everyone could tell when I started my car.

i agree with my240likenoother. also if it was the air flow meter, then there might be a check engine light. im thinking it may be the iaa unit or the iacv valve. not for sure though. got the same problem on my 95, but dont want to replace for 2 reason. one is that it cost a lot of money, and second you cant return the part after install on car.
