for those of you that aren't already aware, there is a drivers school this Saturday, and a high speed autox (solo1) on sunday at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit Illinois, which is 1 hour SE of madison. even if you're not participating, i invite you to come out and observe, you will not be dissapointed. just going to watch is how i got all wraped up in this. unfortunately, i will only be there on saturday for the drivers school. i think steve (240 2NR) and uiuc will be there sunday. my car isn't running properly (read: really f'd and isn't producing full power), my tires are almost bald, and i don't want to spend $200+ on entrance fee's in one weekend, so that's why i'll only be there sunday.

anyway, i invite all of you to come join in the festivities, admission is free iirc.

steve......you should come on saturday, or at least come tech your car, i would like to see it, as this will be my last event of the season.

if anybody is interested in going, im me, pm me, e-mail me, whatever, and i'll give directions.

The plan is to arrive saturday night and race sunday. Not sure what time I'll get up there on saturday, hopefully early evening. I'm not to worried about the tech line as I'll be pitting and camping with two of the inspectors. Either way, I hope I get to meet up with you. Uiuc240 won't be there. He's poor right now and trying to get the SR running right. Lok for him next year.

My harness bar is pretty pimp. It almost looks professionally made, err, I mean it's JDM and was very expensive (just in case there's interest and anyone wants to buy one). I'll have to get pics and post.

I'm a bit disapointed that I didn't get an alignment today. I scheduled it on tuesday for this evening and even had to leave work early. Got there and they only had a wheel balance in the computer (which i also scheduled). So since they were under staffed and overbooked I only got a wheel balance, but they threw in a tear in my lower front lip for free. Kickass! If I can glue back the small part that's pulled forward you shouldn't be able to tell unless under the car. Just made my afteroon even better. Sucks when other people fuck up your car. At least the balance was free since it was within 5000 miles of the mounting. Guess who won't get my business anymore.

Really I'm more concerned that I have no idea what my alignment specs are since the car got lowered and I put on new tierod ends.

EDIT:: I second the invitation to come out and watch, though Travis is a bit optomistic for admission. It's $10 to watch, and free to work (plus a free lunch) or if you're under twelve.

i probably won't leave the track until between 6 and 7, so just get there by then and it'll be all good. i really wish i could participate in the next days festivities, but it's just not a good idea for me. i can tell you that when i put my springs on, nothing on the allignment was too far out of whack, except for toe, which i can't remember, but i think it had too much toe-in, which on low speed cars like ours, at a low speed track like blackhawk, isn't that big of a deal. the tie rod ends might've f'd shit up though.

if you come to watch the drivers school on saturday, i doubt they'd charge you. or you can show up at 6am with me and i'll put you on my crew list.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get charged seeing as how I am participating the following day and getting there late (if they are even still collecting money. I'll do my best to make it. Are you running in the school or just watching? You should stick around for day two or at least camp out and party saturday night.

Hank and Adam had a good laugh over your request for free track time if you worked. I think they tried to do that since they both got sucked into being stewards this weekend and still got shot down. No free time for you!!!

Toe is actually my biggest concern. Can't say for certain as I was a passenger in Eric's car after the suspension install, but his cars feels much quicker to turn in. I've also got an annoying mild understeer to apex problem (on the street anyway) that is only solved with lots of gas, which becomes mild over steer after the apex. My stb's are set to F medium and R soft and was present even before the swap and new tires, so I'm pretty sure it's my toe. I am running 225's up front after all, and shouldn't be getting the kind of handling I am. Pretty sure it's not the tires as the rear is planted solid.

hey......i didn't want a whole day of free time, just 2 or 3 short sessions with an instructor. gotta do what you gotta do, right?

anyway........stiffin up that rear bar, it puts more load on the tires, and you will rotate better as a result. my advice.......mess around with it during morning practice sessions.

Got car + airfare for me? I'll bring my own helmet and brake pads

One of these days, we'll all have to do a day at Mid-Ohio or something.

I'm jonesing for a fix over here. Everything is full - and the last FATT was too wet... and I'm trying to save $ for another car. And I'm a big puss that likes to whine.

Have fun kids - and remember - unless there is a time or w2w - it's not racing! (right Mr. Insurance Agent? )

Unemployed? When did that happen? It's probably all my fault for using your lift for 12 minutes that one day

Shhhhh. Steve! You're not supposed to tell people that I'm broke! But yeah, I'm trying to get the SR to idle right, boost right, have a working tach, and stop the tranny from leaking. So that's taking my money. And I NEED to fix the suspension clunk before it goes racing. I don't need something letting go at 100+ on the back straight!!! So yeah, next year is it. I'll be up there for sure, as I'm moving to Chicago as of July 2003. Only one more year out here in the boons for me.

Have fun tomorrow guys! I'm going to be installing my tach, my EGR plug, my B&M shifter, and trying to set my idle and track down any possible boost/vacuum leaks. Maybe she'll be healed by Monday!!!
