well i went to get my alignment down the other day. the mechanic told me that my suspension is bad because of my rims. the guy told me since i've been driving with my new rims for like a year already, it messed up my cambers. the offset is 17x9 +25. he said that i need a new toe arm because i'm stretching the stock one or something. he says i need a longer or an extended toe arm or otherwise my cambers will keep going bad quick and my tires will eat up. he said to get it right will cost over 1k, so i was like damn! he said or i can just go back to stock rims and everything will be ok. is this true or is he lying and try to get money from me?

sorry if you guys feel annoyed by my question, it's just i didn't know that the toe arm can make my tires eat up. i thought if i just got a camber kit, it'll be okay.

Why don't you start with telling us your suspension(s) and we'll go from there.

It's not a Honda, we dont have "camber kits" haha
Nah but your stock toe arm should be able to max out and be able to zero out even if you are really slammed.
Mainly I would suggest getting an adjustable aftermarket RUCA so you can pull back some camber.
And get a new alignment guy, that's a pretty absurd statement, not sure where he came up with the $1000 figure. I mean I guess if you bought all aftermarket arms (and I mean ALL) + got it aligned (labor), it would cost that much.
If he can't get you zero toe and 1.5-2 degrees camber with an aftermarket RUCA + stock toe rod running 17x9+25s, I'm not sure what to tell you.

i think the $1000 statement comes from "im the mechanic and i more than you. so i will charge you for a part that only costs 200 bucks and you pay 800 for labor. sucker..." I went to some ridiculous shop like that. Good thing i have zilvia to inform me about suspensions. I.E. Suspension FAQ.

The mass use of plurals is always amusing.

wow is all I can say
You need a new alignment guy asap
"go back to stock wheels and everything will be OK" I would have punched him in the face for saying shit like that
But like Logan said you should be able to set toe to zero with factory components especially if you only have 1.5" drop

I don't know what to fault more. Your English grammar which is so bad it makes my head hurt or the shop tech that just either is a complete idiot or straight up lied to you. First off, please make an attempt at proper grammar so we can read and understand your question. Second off do not go back to that alignment tech.

That guy in the shop is lying and trying to rip you off. You do not need new toe arms. If your rear tires toe -in then your tire wear might be increased. This is because the tires are working against each other. Good for cornering though!
