my car is dead on power, i cant even spin my tires from a stop when i dump the clutch, which is in perfect condition. So i started lookingh at everything, i put in new spark plugs, helps, and i got a k&n filter for it and put in fuel system cleanor, the fuel system cleanor seems to have slowed it down, but i have only got about 1/8th the way through the tank at this point so prolly by the end it will be up again.
My thoughts- My timing is retarded or my wires are bad.
My car is a 93 240sx fastback super hicas, it has 135000 km on it and is in almost perfect shape.
Is it just that my car doesnt have the power to smoke the tires?
any suggestions? I just got the car 1 week ago.

how long has it been since you have changed the wires? are they still original, this may be the problem, if not im sure it could be a ton of different things.

as i said, i jsut got the car a week ago, so i dont know alot about it. It was used as a daily driver by some woman so she didnt seem to have done alot other than regular oil changes and things like that, the wires are some brand ive never heard of, some japanese word, dark outside so i cant check, but they look stock.

my 240 wouldn't burn out when i dumped the clutch when i first got it. couple days later i wound up having to replace my fried clutch... could be that. is it slipping?

What is the elevation there?

the clutch isnt slipping at all, what i thought originally to, but had it looked at and its perfect, and im almost at sea level i think, not at a high elevation or anything.

What tires/sizes do you have? I'll assume stock.
With the stock 195/60/15's on my car (205/60/15 on yours probably) i can get the tires so spin if I try reasonably hard. With my new kuhmo's in 225/45/16, I can barely get them to stutter on a launch, unless I rev up to about 3-4k and dump the clutch (which I obvioulsy don't do). RWD is just harder without a lot of power, because unlike fwd, all the weight shifts to those tires instead of away from them. It was easier for my to spin the tires on my 88 626 than on my 93 240 with intake and exhaust.
So basically you sound about normal except that you also have a limited slip diff so if one wheel actually begins to spin, power is sent to the other. Ohhhh I'm so jealous.

yeah...its tough to get the tires to spin... specially in dry conditions... wet however, is another story. but yeah if i lauch at around 2-3 i get a lil cry, but if u want them to spin a lil more u gotta launch at 4000. i hav a 97 240sx le.

I always recommend doing a FULL tuneup on a car when you first buy it. This will prevent a lot of weird problems from happening, and will overall increase the health and power of your motor.

what do you suggest i do as a "full" tune up, at this point ive replace the air filter with a k&n, put new spark plugs in, put in injection cleanor.
On the weekend i plan on checking my timing, other than that im outta ideas.

These are just off the top of my empty head.
Spray intake/carbureator cleaner into the intake...
Change your oil, but this time use some STP or any generally known brands engine degreaser... Some people reccommend Diesel engine oil... If somebody else talks about this then use it.... dont do it on my word because I haven't tried this yet...
Buy a turbo... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':pissed:'>
Totally empty.

Do a search for "60000 mile tune up" or something. I know we had a pretty good list of wear items and fluids that get changed (or checked) at that interval, and most if not all still apply if you are unsure about when they were last replaced.
Do you know how good the previous owner(s) were about servicing the car and recording the history of it?
