hey guys searched a lil bit but i figured it was kinda a unique topic, im looking for anyone that might know how to convert the tach to a 6cyl. i did some reseach on the s14 tach and found that all i neede to do was twist the potentiometer on the back of the circuit board of the tach and use another tach to calibrate it. so i figured this would be just as simple on the s15 one....NOPE....i pulled the whole thing apart and it uses a different setup. but i didnt know if i could pull the potentiometer off the s14 one and wire it inbetween the signal to the s15 cluster to change the signal to read the 6cyl pulse :x:
any help would be appreciated, Dane

there has to be an easy way to do this, christ shitty autometer has a dipswistch setup on the back of their tachs that will work with any number of cylinders.

thats because autometer tachs have to work with lots of different setups, the s15 tach just has to work with a 4 cyl

i am aware of the fact that autometer has to work with different setups, but im saying that it would have to be an easy conversion with parts from radioshack if autometer has a dipswitch box on it that is very easily converted. if it was a hard thing to do guage companies that made tachs would make them application specific and when you ordered it you would have to say what numbewr of cyinders were on your vehicle.

well you are correct about soldering up some kind of potentiometer/resistor on the tach to make it adjustable. The trick is to figure out the circuit to do it on. Speedo shops do this. Its the same way they calibrate electric signal speedo's.
