i know a few guys here that are having some problems with stance, specfically spontaneous lowering (lowering by itself) and some other misc problems.

anyone having this particular problem with their stance?

would like to hear your opinions either it be bad/good

thanks

ps: how does everyone feel about the adjusters for the damper and if they feel that they are too close to the ground?

some people are getting theirs damaged by rocks etc since it sits lower to the ground becuase of the characterisitcs of inverted monotubes. anyone design a way to protect the adjuster in any way?

Take the adjuster off so you only use it when you need it?

My biggest suggestion if you do have problems call STANCE.

In terms of those problems I have yet to hear any S-Chassis owners with issues like that. It can't spontaneously lower unless your collars are loose. They have to move in order for anything else to move. The problem you might be thinking of is the springs settling, after a little while of driving springs settle so it will be lower a few weeks after you first put them on.

For the adjuster ya it sits low, but rocks can jump around wherever they want to jump around, if the actual clicker breaks thats in stock at STANCE, otherwise you can just leave the gold knob off and just use it when you need to adjust.

In my personal experience on the knob, the gold knob is on mine and my car is low, so far no rocks have it it or my shock body.

I don't run stance, but when I ran KTS the perches loosened on me a few times. Even after busting a knuckle or two when tightening it down, it would still loosen. So what I did was lightly scratch a line down the threads. That fixed the problem of spontaneous loosening.

The kts are also invert mounted. The knobs worked find and had no adjustability problems when I had them.

All coilover collars spontaneously come loose. You just have to check them frequently and listen for clunks when you are driving.

u have the reall snug those puppies down
mine slipped down
so i redid it later
and used a screw driver and hammer and gotthem perches REAL tight and snug. its the only way to do it.

the top bolt all coivres do that too

basically what u are running into is NOTHINg new.
every coilover eventuallyruns into this deal.ive had Tein HE, JIC FLTa2, Tanabe DDs and these (s14 and s13) and they allshare same problems.

my knobs are fine, thanks for asking ;)

My Zeals lower on their own.
Kind of a pain.
I just know it is time to raise the car again when I start hearing certain scrapes on certain parts of the ground.

You guys ever hear a loctite? I heard that stuff might help out a bit too.

Have you guys ever heard of Loctite? I heard that that stuff might help out a bit.

To answer your question, yes I have heard of it. I own some actually. I bet it would help. Am I going to use it? No.

Yah, I wouldn't loctite collars either.

But why not?

Do they have a loctite application that doesnt break from vibration or require a torch to take off?

But why not?

if you have problems with your lock collars coming loose you probably have pencil arms or are tightening the collars with your hands or something. there is no reason you should ever need to use loctite on a shock body. sometimes i can barely get my coilovers apart with a sledge and a punch and half a bottle of wd40. i can only imagine if there was loctite in the threads.

lol putting loc-tite on collars, shit is gonna seize in like 5 days.

I've never had a lower collar loosen, usually the problem lies in getting them loose.

Loctite? Baby stuff.

Just weld the collars together.

Yep, that'll do it.

But on a serious note, if you ever have a problem with any product in any sector, just contact the manufacturer first.

haha, i cant belive nobody mentioned zipties. mine always came loose after a few weeks so i just cranked a ziptie on there to help with the suttle spinning of the collar. works like a charm... we did this on some of the stock car chassis i worked on.

after doing many track events we realized that some of the suspesion nuts/bolts will come lose.
it's good to check it every oil change.
don't wait til noise come out, usually it's from all the stress and impact of the suspension.
that's including tension rods, upper arms, etc.
cheers,

sam

The top bolts get loose from time to time too. making clunking sounds when it loads/unloads.

I locked my shafts with a rag, vice grips and used an impact on the top nut and my pillowballs still knock. Explain that! lol

I use a rubber hammer on the spanner wrenches that come with coilovers. Tein HE collars would come loose on the front driver's side no matter how tight. My Zeals are reverse threaded on the front driver's side only... maybe to prevent coming loose? I don't know but they haven't come loose on their own

The lower collar on my front driver side HE would come loose once a week for a while too. Then I used a hammer and a punch to tighten it up that last .5mm I couldn't get with the spanner wrench. That was like a year and half ago. No problems since.

even with my pencil arms collars never came loose, just tapp them together, and check regularly.

yea, I got my car on a lift today and fount mine were loose, but yea, it's a coilover, snug them bitches up or else they are going to move. Not Stances fault.

Use a spot of loctite on the thread... that'll do the trick.

This seems to be a common issue with the collars themselves not really the brand... I had the same issue on my KSports when they were new. I think the threads have some light oil from the factory which helps them loosen... I'm selling my KSports to pick up some stances and am pleased to read this thread and find the only "issue" to be the collars occasionally loosening.

the zip tie method sounds like a good one... any other experience with that?

retighten it. done. been good since

mostly the reason these come loose is because they are poorly designed, the threads on the collars vs the threads on the body are not tight, they move around quiet a bit. This is usually the case with lower end coilovers.

Go all the way down and they won't move.
