So I cheaped out and bought a fender roller from AutoBody Tool Mart. Thought I was doin good by saving $50 over the Eastwood.

So where the arrow is pointing there are two cotter pins. And everytime I try to apply pressure, they snap. I put the washers infront of them, try to be extremely gentle when applying pressure, and everytime, they snap. I conclude the only way to solve the problem is to weld washers onto the bolt.

But its the principle here, I paid $200 for something that should be designed efectively to work, and not have to be modified to work.

So they are gonna refund my money, And send a pick up for it Monday.

Looked really sturdy and nice in the pic...

If anyone has an Eastwood. could they take a pic of that area and post it for comparison? I will try and take a pic of this one and post it

Whats sad is they probably bought an Eastwood one and copied it. Thats bad when you can't even make an exact copy work.

were you atleast able to roll your fenders with it before they pick it back up? lol

Roll, But not even completely flat... The main reason was to pull. But oh well.

Time to bust out the driveshaft and the jack.

why bust out the driveshaft?
im confused.....btw just jam a pry bar between your tire and fender and pull it slowly
make sure you put a rag over your wheel to make sure you dont scratch it
thats how i pulled mine

we've got an eastwood and had similar issues-i forget how we fixed it (i know big help) either way tools will break. i will look at ours and try to figure out what we did. i think we simply moved the pin on the boom to the other hole and it started to work again....

I've got an Eastwood here that I've used the shit out of, it finally broke a cotter pin but that's it. My only complaint is that it's not short enough to do severely lowered cars, I had to pull the rear coilovers off and let the suspension sag to give enough room to use it. Otherwise it's great.

yeah, the only ting i hate on teh eastwood is you have to unbolt stiff/lowered suspensions. on stock suspensions it works great.

I could understand if it broke after a few pulls, but it was EVERY time i applied pressure. If i was to put the pin in the other spot... It wouldnt even reach the fender.

And Russ.... I can do the beer, possibly the Blow and maybe scrounge up a few sluts. But $700 is a little outa reach

Man its all about the wooden baseball bat!

LOL one of my friends was doing a quick pull at the track and he forgot he still had someone rolling on the other side of the car...lowers the car... WOOPS looks like you have an extra 20mm of space now :keke:

rather brake a baseball bat than a fender roller... take some time and use a heatgun and your good to go.

My eastwood hasn't had any problems like that.

But if that was the only problem you had, I don't see why you didn't want to spend the $5 in gas and parts to make it reliable instead of going through the hassle to return it. whatever...

Russ is right on cars lowered with coilovers. It can't go low enough without dropping the arm.

I used a lead pipe on my old car years ago, it worked well enough to get the car rolling until I could do a nicer job, the lead is soft enough to give and rolls smoothly across the lip.

we've used that eastwood fender roller and its that darn cotter pin that would break after 5 mins of rolling... good thing we have a bunch of those pins at work...

why not just put a nail or something in where the cotter pin goes
