so go figure been waiting to get my car out of paint for 5 months...got the car back 6 weeks ago at a cost of around $4.5k...and as I was leaving work last night, an ambulance at full code, sirens and lights, was entering the intersection...so what do you do...you slow down to let ambulance go through the intersection...so thats exactly what me and the car next to me did...next thing i know....i was thrown through the intersection...so i drive and pull over to the side after the intersection...a few seconds later the driver that hit me gets out of her car on her cellphone...the bitch hit me when she was on her cellphone...at this point i didn't even look at my car...while she was still on her phone she kept trying to appologize to me...i told her to not even talk to me and that the only person that she needed to talk to was the deputy. Who showed up maybe 2 min. after the accident....the ambulance driver that i stopped for had called ahead and had fire, paramedics, and a squad car their fuckin fast. The Officer took the complete report. and concluded that she was totally at fault for failing to yield to an emergencey vehicle...so where does that leave me?...take a look...

Sorry man. Better start getting receipts together cuz you'll probably have to fight it being totalled.
Cellphones + most drivers = bad. I'd rather be on the road with drunks. I'm dead serious.

That sucks man........ well if they're gonna go through insurance then they're probably gonna total it out and pay you. But I think if that happens you have to give them ur car..... I'd start taking everything off the car that you want then give them the car...... Hate to say it but they probably wont give you very much for it because it's so old, but i don't know for sure. That sux man, keep us posted.

same thing happen to my lil bro in his kouki a week ago. almost looks the same where it buckled. but they also pushed him into another car in front so the front is pushed in also. airbags went off and now they are totaling it.
if i was you i'll get them to total it and make sure you're getting a decent amount back.
i wouldn't want to fix a car like that.

Dammit,
Another stupid person on a cell phone! I don't know about repairing that though, it looks like some major damage. The insurance company is going to call that a total loss, and then give you a check for what they feel is the value of the car. If I were you, I'd bring up the fact that you just got it painted, you might get some extra money, since that raises the value of your car. Other than that, pull off all the parts that you want to keep, and either sell them, or transfer them to a new S14. Good luck, brother!

Females with cellphone = bad. Females with cellphone + driving = really bad.
I cant wait till that LAW about driving and talking on the cell takes effect.
Sorry to hear about ur loss man.
I'm pretty sure the buckles in the 1/4 panel=structural damage

Take all the parts off that you can. Let them pay you for the whole thing. Start over.
Or buy the car back for the front end if the price is right. If you have a good motor, I would try to keep that as well.

I agree with everyone that believes that chassis is a lost cause, start stripping it down, and have them just pay you for the "car" part.
Put 4 spare wheels on it, strip off everything you LOVE about the car, and leave everything you don't, they will keep the car, and some other ass hole is gonna get all your cool shit.
You're living an S-chassis worst nightmare.
My condolences, good luck on your next car.

Like everyone said gather reciepts. I had a beat up 99 accord with 240k miles. Original value they wanted to give me was 3k i fought it up to 7.5k. Just find adds for 240's in comparable conditions then gather up your reciepts. She hit you so its your ballgame. A settlement is the agreement between you the insurance company on the value of your car.

The quarter panel ripples under the C-pillars lead me to believe that the frame folded. You will want to get out the FSM and go thru the body measurements on the underside of the car.

Guy's -> How does a professional estimate come into play here?
I had my car valued thru a vehicle estimate. The value is a few grand more than a stock 240. I did the estimate because I do not have receipts (bought the car as/is).
My insurance company tried to tell me that the estimate does not matter . . . i figured they said that because they are totall lowballers and suck at life (liberty mutual).
Not that i am worried, i am sure that with a lawyer's help I could definitely get what it is worth should it be stolen due to the fact that i DO have an estimated value.

were you injured at all?
because alot of times, you won't feel it until days later after the accident
get a lawyer, they'll know what to do, especially with an easy case as this
i'd part that out, get another one, it's not like s chassis = gold or antique classic cars, it's mass produced, you'll find a clean one eventually...

car is totalled. What you need to do is A: Be prepared to show them market value for the car with your paint job and whatnot. B: Show them every receipt for parts. At that point two things could happen. Given that it is a total but you have more value than the total they could just cut a straight check and let you keep her. Or they could total it for market value and let you buy it back from them for like a $200-300 off the total check. The trick is get them to cover the cost of the paint. That way when you buy it back you get your parts to put on another car and you can part the rest of it out.

she's at fault, you don't need to go there.Just be persistant and follow what people are saying about receipts and getting proof of fair market value.
Whats Ironic is I am switching my insurance to SCAA aka AAA. This month in fact!I can get both my cars covered with liability, uninsured motorist and comprehensive for $1550 a year. If I add renters Insurance then anything that is added to the cars performance wise up to 20k is covered by renters insurance.!! All I need to do is keep receipts. :D I am so happy about this.

well... good news is i have about 10k in reciepts....not including the car itself...should i buy it back and make a badass RB track car? use some of the insurance money for a downpayment on a new Chevy 2500 diesel crew cab? so i can tow my car to the track?

your car has a 99.9999% of being totalled. rear fenders are part of frame, and they are basically rippled all the way to the doors. it's not like the front of the car where you can just take them off and throw new ones on. a body shop will have to straighten that shit out. on top of that, the car will never really be the same after it's repaired.
imo, try to wrangle as much money out of the insurance company as possible. i believe insurance companies will tend to honor receipts for parts where they are paying out for an at-fault driver. you'll probably still have to argue back and forth with them to reach an actual dollar value though. after that, buy it back and get all your parts off of it. junk what's left and move on to a new s14.

Jason. Ditch that chassis. It's going to drive like shit. In all reality, its done. This time you can start over, and do it all the right way.
You better not get a truck yet! You haven't even done 1 track event. You can use my truck if you need to do an event because I doubt I'll be drivin the same event.
I would see how much you could get out of it in total. You might make some money buying it back and selling the front end. But all in all, you really only have Z brakes, wheels and suspension to take off of it.
Find yourself an S chassis, non auto car and start over.

well on a positive note...AAA insurance is taking full liability for the accident...which means everything from a to z is going to be covered...and i mean everything...i told the adjuster what was on the vehicle at the time of the accident...and she said everything will be covered...and then some...i will even be reimbursed for my labor on my trunk...for my system...so it's lookin up...but it still blows total ass because it is a fuckin hassle...thanks for all your guys' input on my situation and i appreciate your sympathy...she said that according to her software a car of my age in my zipcode in good condition is about 9k market value...they do not use blue book values...thank god...but with the the extras listed...who knows?...anybody know of a S14 chassis for sale?

hey man, im glad to hear you are ok. i only read half the posts before my stomach started to turn inside out, and i got nauseous. this sickens me. for someone to be an idiot and total their own car is one thing.. for some cunt to be on the phone and rear end you? id break her legs to be honest. im so pissed.. i see so many drivers on their cell phones, i cant count them all in one day. as far as the quarter panels alone.. i had my drivers side left replaced.. average quote for replacement of JUST the rear quarter, was $1800.. for one quarter panel... i paid $1352 from another place that demolished my one-of lip. the frame rails dont go all the way back in 240s.. look underneath the car and see how shes doing. check in the trunk to see if the actual sheet metal holding the spare is bent or not. this same accident happened to my boys car a few months ago. drove fine and everything, no chassis damage.. just the body was messed up. total repair? about 4,000... do able. would i have repaired it like he did? hell yea. s14s are too far in between and rare... the question is.. do you save an S chassis, or do you take one more rare S14 off the roads :( . the true measure of a man.. please, don't kill another S14  atleast this isnt a case like some shmucks that part out s14s for a bent fender, bad quarter, or blown engine.. assholes...
DJ_Sunrise
03-01-2007, 06:05 PM
oh yea.. looking at things again.. if its only the rear left quarter.. theres only about 2k-2.5k in damage. just get it fixed. if the frame was bent the glass would have blown out. ill buy the shell off you
OBEEWON
03-01-2007, 07:47 PM
That is fixable. My maxima was hit just about the same way. In a very good case the adjuster will let you choose if you want to total the car out. Thats not all adjusters but some of them are nice. In my case he added up all the reciepts for mods I gave him right up to the threshold and gave me that maximum he could before a total write off. All you probably need to show is the bill for your last paint job. Get it straightened out and throw some overfenders on it if you want. But the trunk probably wont line up perfectly like most people said.
Beautiful car man, good luck with it.
Oh yeah dont forget 'SOFT TISSUE DAMAGE!!!!'
I got an extra 5 grand because I re-injured my back, and neck. But even if you dont feel bad now, go get checked up because later on down the road you will feel it. Why not get paid for it now too?
95Kouki
03-02-2007, 08:39 AM
well the car is now sitting at my body shop...and according to owner of the shop he states that at first glance the car is totally fixable...he estimates around 6.5 to 7.5 k will fix the car...that includes a full pull on a laser guided frame rack...brandnew OEM nissan quarter panel, trunk floor pan,new trunk lid hinges and repair the deck lid and strut towers...and then for the kicker... paint...since him and i went over the paint mixtures...we custom blended our own set of dupont paints....so to get it to blend properly....thats gonna be a bitch...so go figure if paint cost 4.5k without body work and disassembly and reassembly (i took care of that)...it would be only about 1k dollars less because the car has already been fully jammed....so total repairs...it might just total out the car...and whats even worse...my full fiberglass show system is totally in fuckin pieces...so there goes two weeks of fiberglass and upholstery work...that bitch is gonna pay...and what sucks even more...is that i use that car for work...i work at a high end stereo shop in lancaster...i use my car on a daily basis as a demo vehicle to sell some of my product...put it to you this way...a full system from my store starts at 5 grand and my record for a system is $40k...we build full show cars and everything...so i sell maybe 12-15 complete systems off my car every 2 weeks...so not having my car is a major loss of income...
as for medical...i have bad muscle spasms in my neck and my back...and today i have over 2 hours of X-Rays to complete...my physican told me to take a mandated week off of work...so yeah....any suggestions?

ManoNegra
03-02-2007, 12:12 PM
^^ yeah, 6.5 - 7.5k is a lot of money. Just cause it can be repaired doesn't mean your insurance company would want to.
I would have had the car taken to your garage because once it hits a yard, even if you get it back it may be missing parts.
AAA is pretty good about paying out claims. While back they used an independent agency to get an estimate of the car - 95 SE - based on market value in the area for my old one. Minus ~$500, I kept the car and parted it out.
Good luck and I'm glad to hear your OK.

At least i can take comfort in the fact that my wife uses her earpiece in the car.

yep...beginning of 2008 no talkin on your handset while driving...i sell bluetooth interfaces at work that actually play out of your vehicles speakers...works with about 99.9% of vehicles and doesn't require any modification of your vehicle.... http://www.parrot.biz ...i was actually on my bluetooth when i was hit... my friend said she heard the sirens (of the ambulance) and fuckin smash, me screamin some foul language and i told her i got hit and that i'd call her back...fuckin bullshit...the very technology i sell could've helped to avoid this whole bullshit...Effective Jan 2008 this technology will become mandatory for cell phone use...
lookin at my x-rays my lower back looks pretty funny....they're some what out of place....not good....the whole accident will be taken care of by her insurance...again they claim full liability for the incident...and believe it or not they're workin fairly promptly on this issue...maybe because this is a serious incident and they could totally get fucked over??...any thoughts?

Thanks For any advice
The car will never be the same, sell the car after it is fixed. Sell the car and use the moneyfor a down payment on a G35 or something.

I've hear AAA is the easiest to deal with for insurance claims. Progressive and Geico being the worst.
They could be trying to butter you up with the property damage so they won't have to pay out the big bucks with the medical.

you'll get a ton of $$$ from them...a lady backed into my driver fender about 6 months ago on a stock aspen pearl zenki and had to dish out $2200 just to re-paint back to stock and put a new fender on, i went with the kouki conversion and pocketed $500!!!:naughty:

well on a positive note...AAA insurance is taking full liability for the accident...which means everything from a to z is going to be covered...and i mean everything...i told the adjuster what was on the vehicle at the time of the accident...and she said everything will be covered...and then some...i will even be reimbursed for my labor on my trunk...for my
yes AAA for the win, i work in a body shop AAA is hands down the best company to deal with both claiment and insured. Lot of people switch over to AAA after dealing with them.

Man that sucks a$$, sorry to see such a nice car get messed up like that.
Not to be insensitive but my car just got the whole front end rearranged last week by a different incompetent female, seeing how I'm looking to do a kouki conversion, do you happen to be selling any of your parts? (or wheels)
Once again, sorry to see such a nice car get messed up, hope this all works out for you, I know how shitty it is dealing with insurance companies.

Make sure you ask them to buy the salvage rights back from them when you accept their offer. It should'nt be that much, my S13 was totalled out for 7k and i bought the salvage rights back for 400 dollars and sold the engine and spare parts to a friend. So I came out of the accident with extra money. Good luck.

so it looks like the insurance company and I came to the agreement of $18k for the car itself...and we're still workin on the medical...so far medical is up to $20k...well as for the car...it will cost me around 4k to get back to OEM status and another 2k for over fenders and Vertex aero...if i decide to fix it then i will be putting an SR in it...so any good reliable sources for s14sr's?

awww man that blows, but it sounds like you may make out okay except for all your time lost in building the car.
if youre goin with overfenders then you need new wheels too!
you gonna buy it back with a salvage title or will it have a clean title?
thats very important for any resale value if you ever want to or need to sell it.
fawk them stooopid beeeetches on cellphones, wtf!

that was a nice looking S14. It looks like you put alot of heart and love into it. Its shattering to see something go to waste by something that wasn't even your fault.
I hope you are trying to get everything you can out of that bitch.
