View Full Version : rotor rubbing caliper after 5lug

I just finished 5lug on my S13. Used aftermarket hubs with S13 calipers. I'm running pads and rotors from a '98 S14 SE and now the rotors are rubbing. I had to remove the shims but they still rub. Is this common? Did I use the wrong parts?

Should I just start shaving down the inner caliper? It's rubbing the edge of the rotor because there doesn't seem to be enough room, the rotor is too thick in diameter and width.

What should I do?

97-98 front rotors are just a hair larger in diameter. You either need matching 97-98 calipers or 89-96 rotors, 5lug or 4lug redrilled to 5lug.

my rear calipers used to rub, but that was because the sliders got rusted. im assuming your using all new parts right?

Werd, the 97-98 used ABS hardware...regardless of whether ABS was installed or not.

I just ran in to this very problem. Unfortunately the NAPA here told me they had the same part # for '95-'98 front rotors. So, I took one of my stock S13 4 lug rotors, and a pair of new '98 5 lug rotors to the machinist. They will turn them down to the proper diameter. I'll let you know how it works out when I pick them up tomorrow.

man, there are napas all over the bay...find someone that went/goes to sequoia institute too...they get discount...brand new front Z32 rotors and rear 240sx rotors ended up costing me like $7X.XX OTD courtesy of my buddy with a sequoia card...im running axxis ultimates, bedded them, and have been to the track a lot last season with no problems what so ever...

or just let me know and i can dig up those five lug ones off a zenki for you...for the time being that is...they should be good anyways...iirc, they had no lip and werent warped...

Post count doesn't necessarily = knowledge on every single thing. I hope that comment was a joke and not a smartass rhetorical question. Don't be an ass.

yeah, but he's been a member since '03. in three years you have to stumble across the information at some point. i was going to tell him to search until i looked at his post count and join date, he should know better.

no, it wasn't a joke, i am an ass, too bad.

i don't search useless information so there's no way i would have stumbled across it, keep the unrelated comments to pM y'all!

thatguy, did you get those rotors back yet? The ones i got locally turned out to be Brembos...

fixed! just order 96 SE rotors w/ the 2 holes to hold the rotor on. Now i'm stuck w/ 98SE rotors. any takers?
